TCB: happy jeans contest

Few hours?  I lost track a little bit because I was excited about a new iron and was prepping a bunch of other repairs as well.

It's a pretty fast stitch once you get going with it.

great job there jyoni.

I can't decide wheter to hem or not my pair. sometimes I love the double cuff and sometimes I hate it, depending on which shoes I am wearing.

I might send them over to the handy denim repair man in groningen holland. he did some sweet repairs to my pairs in the past and I've heard from him that the has a Union Special for chainstitching. he's  a very funny guy too, always throws some unexpected freebies in the package. first time I received a selvedge denim card holder, second time two dutch waffels hidden in the pockets of the jeans and a very funny drawing. wondering what he could come up with for the third parcel ahah! I reccomend him very much for darning repairs to anybody in EU. he charges 15 eur for a chainstitch hem, but if I count in signed-for shipping both ways I am going to spend 45 euros all around... does anybody know if there's a cheaper way for Europe?

Sorry guys, I tend to post everything to Instagram and get lazy on hosting and then posting on here...That said, here are the latest fadings of my pair; 3 washes so far, and I've got some good roping going!

^Thank you! It's honestly just a product of washing often which this denim takes to well!

part II, Couldn't leave out some food pictures! ;) as a warning I take all my photos with an iPhone...

New place in Chicago called Momotaro (sound familiar? ;) ) owned by the Boka Restaurant Group who have a few James Beard's and one star Michelin's. I enjoyed the 60's Japan vibe:

Other meals lately:

Dove's Luncheonette, a Tex-Mex diner type restaurant by the same people that do Big Star, etc. if you're familiar with the Chicago food scene!

my favorite food groups: pork and eggs:

Not related, but my favorite meal lately from Baker Miller who source heirloom grains and also mill them in house. This is their version of grits:

And finally, the burrito I ate the other day from L'Patron which is supposedly the best for carne asada in Chicago...California friends may gasp at the lettuce, but don't mind:

So that's some of the food I've been eating lately! Baker Miller in particular may be well on their way to some nods soon although they haven't been open that long...

thanks SM! frankly I've lost track of the number of wears. I've got them in june 2013 and I wore them in rotation til april, then from april every day til crotch blowout in late august! I must have worn them 4 or 5 days from the contest start. around 12 months, maybe a little less.

thanks Tiger! I waited three months of solid wear for the first wash, then one month for the second, then every two weeks or even more when needed during summer. probably around 18/20 times.

Some snaps of my recent trip to China and Hong Kong. Also a reminder of a failed TCB contest Hong Kong meetup with Ed and Simon (Sugar Mountain). We just couldn't match up our schedules.

The smog was really bad in Guangzhou. This photo was taken at 630am.

Long day of walking around the Canton Fair

The reason why we were in Hong Kong. It was The Armoury's 4th year anniversary and re-opening of the second store. We work with them for the tailoring stuff here in Manila.

Funny name. 90s hip-hop soundtrack. Great food! Check out the tiles. Those are real mahjong tiles!
