chainstitch run off at the waistband is a very nice touch, very happy with these, top notch quality! these are really stiff at the moment and i'll do a hot soak and spin and wait for them to settle. hopefully they lose 3" in the legs and not the waist, ha! pretty much the spot on fit i wanted so im really pleased with them.

ps: awkward pose aside, the self timer on the iphone is really a huge plus!

sorry to hear about that mes, did you hit them with boiling hot water?

here is an updated fit pic of the 50's. i've updated the original post with post shrink measurements. i gave them a warm soak and then a full wash spin dry, no dryer. pretty sure i didn't lose all the length in the inseam but they will probably remain this way since i don't think i will ever dryer-dry these babies.

I filled a pail with half cold water and then I pour boiling water into it, guess too much of the boiling water though

yea, I dont get the boiling water thing.  A washing machine on hot does just fine.  Ive been wearing the jeans since I received them, I played it too close with the inseam, but its at perfection right now, after a warm wash and a hot wash.  Really like the fit, its super relaxed but not sloppy.

OK, checking in with my first fit pictures and measurements. These shots were taken post-wash prior to me dropping the jeans off at Take5 for hemming. I am still training my loving wife in the art of denim photography but you get the idea! I really like this fit and that's very important if they're to be my daily driver over the next 18 months.

I was concerned upon measuring the waist pre-soak that these were going to be a bit of a squeeze. In my opinion, the waist is a shade undersized relative to the other dimensions of this cut (if I'd gone a size up for the waist, the seat and thigh would be too big). So, I decided to cold machine wash on a wool cycle with spin set to 400 just to be on the safe side. The jeans were still kind of sticky from the starch after that first wash, so I did another rinse and spin. Then I gave the waist a good tug (ha!). After hang-drying, the waist was a snug but doable fit and stretched out to comfortable after a morning's wear around my apartment. I just need to be careful with future washing so these are not likely to hit the machine on a super-frequent basis.

Pre and post-wash measurements BIG style in inches for tagged 31:

Waist:  16.1 >>> 15.5 (stretched when wet)

F Rise:  12 >>> 11.5

B Rise:  16 >>> 15.5

Thigh:  12.7 >>> 12.2

Knee:  9.7 >>> 9.2

Hem:  9 >>> 8.7

Inseam: 37 >>> 34.7

Given other peoples' measurements, there's likely some additional shrinkage in these. Might give them a 30 degree wash once hemmed.

Looking good Sugar Mountain! Proper 50's fit right there.

Need to wash mine one more time to get out all of the shrinkage.

Also gonna have nerdy TCB-talk with Mikko from Pancho & Lefty this weekend. Will be interesting to hear his view on this great brand and how he found it. I wonder if he can spot that I'm wearing a pair without me bringing it up.

Pre:

Waist: 32"

Front Rise: 12.5"

Back Rise: 15.75"

Thigh: 12.5"

Knee: 9.5"

Hem: 9"

Length: 35"

Post hot wash and tumble:

Waist: 30.5"

Front Rise: 12"

Back Rise: 15"

Thigh: 11.75"

Knee: 9.25"

Hem: 8.5"

Length: 32.5"

As Sugar Mountain reported, the waist is coming in a little small compared with the rest of the proportions in the 31. The waist is the only thing that fits a little tighter than I prefer. Thankfully, my preference is a little loose to start, so these fit snug now and will stretch within a day or two to fit right. Damn fine pair of jeans. Thanks, Ed and Aho.
