I converted these White's Semi Dress boots from a Stitcher construction to a more durable welted construction.

Outstanding Brian. I can't think of anyone that does hand-welted engineer boots.

Thanks! Every resole and boots I work on are hand welted to increase the durability. Also a fresh welt definitely gives a used pair of boots a new life .

Chippewa 97863 Resole By Role Club. I removed the celastic to make them a soft toe and replaced old hardware with brass roller buckles.

Chippewa Engineer Boots converted to 40's style by Role Club. These had a steel toe and I relasted the upper and converted them to a flat toe.

I have a pair of White's smoke jumpers that I had made for me 10+ years ago. Standard SJ build, black leather, but w/ a double celastic toe box (now I have no idea why I did that). I wore them for a couple of years, and loved them, but stopped wearing them 'cuz they're just too big, heavy and clunky to wear around everyday for me.

After a long time of deabting, I finally sent them back to Whites' for a complete rebuild;

  • Brown standard SJ leather for toe vamp, heel counter, & rear stay + pull loop
  • This will also give me a new brown leather welt
  • Upper will remain black w/ brass eyelets & hooks
  • Single leather mid-sole
  • All leather curved heel, lowered 1/4"
  • edge stained brown
  • Vibram 700 Composite 1/2 sole (I prefer the look of an all leather heel w/out the rubber out sole going into the heel block)
  • Single celastic toe box
  • Dress toe cap in standard brown leather - this has the tooled edge, rather than the plain edge

SSOOOOOOOO excited about this rebuild!!! I love White's and have been wanting something more casual and easy to wear for a very long time. I've been contemplating a new custom build for some time, but have been balking at the price. This rebuild will give exactly what I've been wanting, for less than 1/2 of what a new pair would cost. Should be done in about 4+ weeks. I'll be sure to post pics when they come in. Shouldn't have taken before pics, but I didn't...

I turned the small and hard-to-use NOS thin heels made by Cat's Paw into larger, more usable and durable heels. Only a small quantity is made due to the low stock number of NOS thin heels.

The thin heels come in two styles; rubber half heels and combination. The below is the combination (rubber & leather):

These are another styles made from Cat's Scoop heels. They are even rarer...I collect only two pairs of the small scoop heels, so only two pairs are made...The scoop heels are embossed with the Lucian Bernhard cat and the words - CAT'S PAW WON'T SLIP. Very nice and delicate!

Love these new heels:

The new heels look nice with the cork soles  ^_^ :

Can someone explain to me the functionality of the white circles on most of these vintage soles? I've never seen anything like it up close. It sure has a great look to it.

Also: When there are two rows of stitching for reinforcements, is the inward row stitched to the insole?

^ I believe you have a point!

Resoled a pair of 60's Redwings for a customer. These boots meant a lot to him and he wanted me to save the green plugs from his old soles.
