Denim Experiment

.Also, I personally would never do it, but does anyone think that sandpapering, etc. should be allowed if only to see how earned as opposed to artificial wear compares beyond just speeding up the process. Just make sure that if people do that sort of thing that they admit to it.

I also want to see what kind of trash talk, sandpapering accusations and absurd wearing practices/activities start happening as the contest goes on...

You know what they say: "all is fair in love and war...and worldwide denim contests"

Okay - I think so far I've responded to all pm's....

Changing your size won't be a problem - I will post all user names on Sunday - so that everybody can check - and nobody will be forgotten or mistakingly be put on the list for Samurai.

All of you who still want to change the size - just email me after that process - and it will be done .

I just need your size and names so that Toshiko can make a reservation on the serial number - and on the definite sizes.

Once she confirmed - everybody will order their Jeans directly through her - so you can discuss all ur payment and shipping matters directly with her.

Creditcard will be the preferred way of payment - so everybody will be certain that the right amount will be charged - and that the Lim Edition will fly safe and sound on the way to the right address.

All details about the "contestents" will be discussed on a different thread - we have to figure out many things - RULES - TIMEFRAME - WEBSITE (thanks again for offering help !!!) and so on.....

We will have plenty of time after the ordering process to discuss these things !!

Just make sure - pm Listing Full Name and Size !

Sizing matters - I am not a Samurai specialist - but the cut is similar to the S5000VX.

The thigh is slightly bigger - waist about the same.

Those who are brave - size down - all I can say is - shrinkage after 1st soak - and again after 1st wash.....thats when they will have their true size ....

As a matter of fact - I m still debating myself !

will pm you beatle as soon as I decide on size... still debating between 28 and 27... my rag&bones have stretched like crazy and they are tagged 28 but have yet to see any water whatsoever. anyone have any advice? As of now I'm thinking I should get the 27 (which from what I understand will measure more like 29, my actual waist size) hot soak them down to 27 (will be way tight) and then after a day or two of wear be closer to an actual 29.. which will fit me... what do you think?

*note I just read the entire thread on the 5000bk and I came to no conclusion as far as sizing up or down

I am dying here. I so want to do this, but need to buy the new frye brando boots. I would have also liked for the jeans to be a bit slimmer. I know my old lady will kill me if i do this.

Just posted this in the S5000 thread, but might be useful posting here as well, a comparison between size 28 & 29 S5000BK:

All measurements taken raw, 29's first, 28's after:

Waist (circumference): 32 / 30.4

Inseam: 38.5 / 38.5

Outseam: 48 / 48

Front rise: 10.5 / 10.5

Rear rise: 14.1 / 14

Knee: 9.6 / 9

Hem: 8.4 / 8

Interesting that the waist has the biggest difference. I figured the 28 tagged would measure 31 raw. For those thinking of dropping 2 sizes you might not want to now.

I have emailed Toshiko once more regarding sizing....I don't believe the reply will help much, either...

I just wanted to let you guys know that I came accross the S)500XX in the Lightning denim vol 2 - that sure is some crazy denim....real slubby - prob. mad fading...

Now I am really excited...

I will post more about size once Toshiko gets back to me...

I definitely think that a tighter jean will produce MORE fading, that's not to necessarily say it will be better. The type of fit will change the whiskering, honeycombs, etc.

I'm still undecided, though. The picture helps somewhat as I have bigger thighs (at least in comparison to my calves). The 28 measurement definitely helps.

My perfect fender rhodes just came on craigslist, and sadly, i have just barely enough money for it. As much as I love jeans, I love me some music just a bit more. Sadly, I am out.

This sorta helps, would love to know post soak measurements and how you soaked them etc...I'm still leaning towards sizing down 2 sizes

So - here's Toshikos answer reagrding sizing...

Basically, the size is the same.

But, I think,

The rise of S0500XX is around 1cm(1/3inches) higher.

So, the waist of S0500XX will be a little bit smaller than that of

S5000VX.

So - that's it - maybe it helps - her last words - IT'S DIFFICULT !

So far - we are 20 ppl...
