Teaser for my upcoming challenge entry on all of my damage and repairs...

 

 

I'll have to count, but I have about 20 different repairs in these things now... They're definitely starting to hit the "really falling apart" stage of things.  Without Daria expertly and patiently doing all of my repairs for me, I'm not sure they'd even be wearable any more. Haha.

 

In the mean time, we built a sound bar from a cannibalized old Sony 5.1 system. Having wires going everywhere looks awful, and Sony wanted a few hundred bucks to make it wireless, so we just made a sound bar.  We used beat up old oak we found in a dumpster at work, sanded and stained, and finished with some cool looking roofing nails.

Now, the last thing missing in here is a media console that isn't as ugly as sin. Haha.

Dude, it's some serious fun.  Two engineers together (admittedly, we're both bioengineers that focus on math-based neuroscience rather than building a lot of hands-on stuff, but still...) means that we always have fun projects planned.  That chair we started in summer is finally almost done, btw...  I can't believe how much time it took, but it looks really great.  I'll post it up within the next week or two when it's finally done.

I rinse them almost every week.  I just dont scrub or add soap.  My jeans are generally pretty clean apart from some saw dust.

Figured it's about time I post some pictures.  I've long since disqualified myself from the contest due to my lack of participation, but I've still been quietly wearing my jeans and slowly fading them.  For the record, these are Studio D'Artisan X's-33.

 

 

And some quick detail shots of parts that I like.

The remarkably intact center seam (I always, always, always blow out the crotch in my jeans, so this just amazes me)

 

Since I have small children and spend a lot of time crawling around, I also always end up with white spots at the knees.

Cool stuff, El Toro. These guys were one of my favorites back in the day. I remember being floored by Train of Thought as a high schooler. I haven't liked their Roadrunner records as much, but I still see them live every time they're in town.

Washing challenge:

There's no rocket science to how I go about washing my jeans. I just turn them inside out, remember to close the zipper so it won't jam, fold them on the middle, put them in the machine for a 40 degree wash with low spin and wash 'em for a little over an hour. Hang dry over the night.
