Thanks Gray, the jeans have got some great little contrasts starting to show. Glad you like the boots, they're my own brand that I've been working on for about a year and half. We handmake them here in New Zealand using local materials where possible.

Hi Somar,

Here's some links to the last batch of boots we made and photos of the workshop:

I'm about to release all future boots and some other products under a brand I created. I'm also working on our own rubber sole manufactured locally which should be ready soon.

i got back in touch with ben after my last post here.  i'm VERY pleased with the jeans he made for my wife.  we took our time finalizing the measurements and sourcing the right denim.  once everything was finalized turnaround was super fast.  only 10 days from order submission until delivery in NYC!

Hello

Im going to order some viapiana premium custom jeans.

Yesterday i measured all out but im very unsure because of the waistsize.

Can anyone help me make a decision please?

I measured 2 Pair of my jeans:

APC Petit Standard: Bought with a tagged size 28, measured they were  29.5 and now after 3 Month of wear: 33 (quite hard in the beginning, but just after 3 days the jean stretched out perfect)

Iron Heart 555-01 21oz, bought with a agged size 29, measured they were 30 and now they are 32.75 (here it was very hard at the beginning... jeans stretched out after about 2 month)

so now i really dont know, which size i should order from viapiana... do you guys think a 31 is okey? i hate it, when the jeans stretch out too much... they should stretch out just to a 33... thats the perfect size for me to wear it low on my hips.

hope you guys can give me some advice.

thx,

Luca

As you have highlighted with your examples above, different denims shrink & stretch differently so without knowing which ones you are referring to, it is hard to give you information on their individual properties and to make a generalisation on Viapiana denim as a whole would not help you out all.

I think your best bet is to pick a few denim options that appeal to you, then send the team at Viapiana a message asking about the shrinking/stretching properties of your selections. It would be best to include them in the process of creating your jeans as they will have/should have run tests on each of them and will have a much better understanding.

Saying that you may be lucky and manage to pick some denim options that people on this forum have had some experiences with, and get some good feedback but emailing the guys should get you a quicker response.

Hope this helps!

Viapiana wide cut jeans in olive denim... Fabric is a 14oz sanforized LHT from Kuroki. This is not a true custom - it's part of his RTW line (really closer to MTO) - but that aspect is not too important to me as I have pretty standard needs as long as the legs are wide enough.

So far, very happy with my purchase. They're taking a bath right now.

Final detail shots. I sent Ben some deerskin and had him line the cuffs and waistband. Collar is deerskin with duck backing. The jacket will see a lot of wear and these high wear areas will hopefully hold up a long time.

Fancy - I like very much

I never found the custom denim thing very appealing - mostly what I’ve seen on IG and the like - but it’s apparent now it really does depend on:

1. Who is wearing it (and that’s a big part of why)

2. The details the owner has incorporated (more of the why)

@Duke Mantee, a lot of it is me being a picky bastard. I want what I want. The JWJ jacket would have probably met my want list. I don't like pocket flaps. I like the early pleated style. Most of the available jackets with those details are 1 pocket jackets. The JWJ has the 2 pockets, but it has a seamed center back. I didn't want a seam. I have a Mister Freedom ranch blouse that I love. It has the 2 pockets, one being non flap and the cossack collar. The fit is very good, but not perfect for my level of picky. The Mister Freedom was also a heavier denim, which I love, but I wanted even heavier. So I had to go the custom route to get all of the things I wanted. I found that Ben offered the level of customization I wanted at a reasonable (in my mind) price. Also, with the recent demise of Roy, I feel good about supporting Ben (another 1 man show).

I also had some deerskin laying around and wanted to reinforce the normal high wear areas of the jacket. I do intend the wear this jacket a lot.
