Shoes that look better with age...

Love these Japanese made Real McCoy's PF Flyers. They feel much sturdier and better made than even my old American converse. The thick canvas and cotton laces are great and I really like how the toe slightly curves up. Tagged size 10 and fit about like a 10.5.

Those look much closer to a Jack Purcell than a PF flyer.  Not meant as an insult, look good...i'm always looking for a canvas shoe that holds up to wear.  The cheap stuff always comes unglued at the ball.

Agreed, PF's usually look much boxier.

Those are so fucking nice. Where can I get my pair?

I'm considering a custom pair of wesco jobmasters. Does anyone have detailed information on the types of leather, most specifically the difference between their "black" leather and "black tie domain?"

Wesco Packers on jobmaster last. Had these about 6 months, still pretty tight and feel shorter than White's in the same size. Considered selling them but I do love them so....

You can see the gear change scuff on the left boot.

The heel slip went away after a few days, no problem at all. I used the inlays as the inner leather lining began to roll up when I slipped out of the shoes, same problem I had with my Vibergs. And yes, I think the laces match pretty perfect.

Man those are amazing Max. Always like having a rough out pair of sneakers, but those kill my rough out gazelles by a long shot. I remember you saying you got these through Bakers, was it a ready made pair or custom?

Does anyone have experience with Nick's oxfords?

Just curious on how they stack up to the White's above. Both seem very nice! Not sure which route I'd go.

But I like the rough out on Max's pair, while Nick's seems to have a few nice options too.

Thought I'd take a quick pic of my humble collection.

All of em get regular cleaning and conditioning with Pecard's Leather Dressing. *(even the suede...I like how it darkens and smoothes it out)

All 5 pairs took a few years to collect but each is aging nicely with some great patina.

I wanted this configuration but was lucky enough to get this as a stock pair. Maybe you're lucky too. Even if the leather is the most unforgiving I've encountered they're a dream to walk in and are perfectly balanced between feeling like a boot & sneaker.

Wow Segovia!

What great photos and what an incredible collection you have! Looks like you've got a nice investment going $$  :D

Puts mine to shame.

Thanks guys. There are a few more pictures here: http://imgur.com/a/6szmv. I didn't wanna drop all of them directly in the thread!

I'm definitely planning on holding off on any more boots for a while. I love how some of them are looking with some wear...need to give all of them some serious time on my feet before I even think about adding any more.

Nice. If you could only keep one pair, which would it be?

So hard to choose one. Right now probably the Wesco Foot Patrol or the Viberg Chromepaks. I think Wesco's brown domain is my favorite leather at the moment (both of the IH/Wesco boots are brown domain). The Chromepaks are still only a week or so old, but I think that leather is going to age wonderfully.

I also have a soft spot for Red Wings since I live about an hour from their factory. I've had most of the Red Wings the longest, and a few of them were purchased from their annual tent sale every fall.

The Jack Purcell sneaker was originally designed for B.F.Goodrich, the first company to use the 'PF' technology, this was in the mid 30's. In '37 the technology proved so popular that it formed it's own brand, PF Flyers. Jack Purcell sneakers were being produced by PF Flyers from here on.

It was not until the 70's when Converse bought PF Flyers that they acquired the Jack Purcell production rights. The companies had to demerge due to an unfair market share but with this Converse kept the Purcell licensing, hence why we now see Converse producing sneakers with the signature Purcell smiley and autograph.

The reason those PF Flyers look like a Jack Purcell is because they're meant to.
