My go-to rain boot&shoe.

The fancy calfskin actually outperform the oil tanned leather in both mold and water resistance.

Gave my JK hikers their first thorough wash + condition this past week

Worn these a fair amount and they still feel like they're breaking in—this leather doesn't give easy—but so far I've been really happy with them

First photo is post-wash, pre-conditioning; the rest are after the whole ordeal

Also washed the Bounty Hunters

Photos make it seem like I messed w/ the contrast, but that's really just how the water buffalo leather looks in natural light

Well, I just received these XBXS boots in the mail. Fantastic anatomical last, QC is near perfect. I enjoyed their Escape boot model, and asked if it could be made up in Kudu... and here they are!

Do consider this brand for yourself. Very easy to deal with over Instagram. I will be ordering more.

Russell 5547, re-dyed w/ kakishibu

I don't think I've posted much about these, but they're definite favorites. Very comfortable, very easy to wear. More glare in the photos than I'd like, despite no direct sunlight—will probably re-take some time when it's a good bit more overcast.

I picked up these from a seller at the recent Viva Las Vegas rockabilly event.

Reasonably priced so a good find I'd say.

Probably late 60s/early 70s.

The guy also had two pairs of very cool 1930s boots that didn't fit me, but I took photos in case anyone wanted to see. Will post those at some point.

Did you get these, I really like the look of them in brown.

Also considering the crockett and jones roughout Chelsea

rarely shine my shoes but i just did. cheaney cairngorm. used cheaney's own bordeaux cream and wax, made by saphir. the burgundy leather gets quite light brown after a few years (sorry no before photos), these are around 4 years old.

Any idea how to best clean the tab...or how to remove it as clean as possible?! Scalpel?

Cleaning: soap/dishsoap and a brush, stick a bit of cling wrap under it to protect the leather.

Removing: scalpel or small scissors with a sharp tip

If you really need to delete a tab, you can try the following. Cut it out with scissors close to the edge. Carefully separate the parallel threads with a regular needle, not very sharp, taking care not to scratch the skin, all the way to the stitch. Push the rest of the perpendicular threads inside between the stitches with the back of the needle or with a blunt awl. I used to remove labels on fabric this way, most probably it could be done here, too.

remove tab of the shoes, pants, or jacket seems to me the same as castration of cats .... by the way Paraboot tab  is beautiful and would fade with shoes....

Really didn't know where else to put this but I'll see if I can get some traction here.

Have recently became fairly obsessed with vintage fifties and sixties ACME cowboy boots with the painted leather inlays and thought I would try my hand at customizing some boots.

First here are a few examples of what I'm talking about.

IMG_20230517_141414.thumb.jpg.429943f697e36a287b1f8974ac3007dc.jpg

And the boots themselves. Pretty cheap,  shaft my be synthetic.

Screenshot_20230517-141933_eBay.thumb.jpg.c333d28f9d6c60af1cde6a2e2f771bd2.jpg

And here is what I've come up with for options

1. Cream and baby blue inlays, red piping

20230517_141830.thumb.jpg.b159ea9683c0a411774ce2b7a41f2b8c.jpg

Option 2:

Cream and Red inlays, baby blue piping

Screenshot_20230516-130957_Gallery.thumb.jpg.44dda3ac01180e2d4d850e1bd6351745.jpg

Or

Option 3:

Blue and red up front,  cream in the back with or without piping
