Shoes that look better with age...

Any experience/opinions on Velasca? Made in Italy, DTC. Reasonably priced for what they are. Construction seems to primarily Blake and Rapid-Blake. Some GYW. They offer a wide variety of styles from dress to rugged to casual. Mostly not for the SuFu crowd, more for the Style Forum crowd, here're a couple that may be of interest:

I'm going with this black plain toe derby, black suit f/ J. Crew, white shirt, black tie. Good enough, and I needed all of the kit. When in doubt, follow the advice of Tom Ford.

@mlwdp yes it fit a fold or retractable knife..on the right side pocket fit for a knife like this one. This is for the first time I seen RW engineer features this extra compartment make me wonder which model and what year for this production .I have seen RW Billy boots limited run with knife pocket..so maybe this engineer boots are limited run too.

I’ve never own Aldens before, do they tend to run big? I’m a true 10.5 in most shoes. I’ve got my eyes on a pair on eBay rn but have been burned by purchasing shoes online a lot recently. Can’t get the sizing right.

Depends on the last.  People typically size down a half size for the Trubalance and Barrie, but it will vary person to person -- Trubalance is true to size for me, while Barrie I went down a half.  I would read about the different lasts and see which makes the most sense for your foot.   The Shoe Mart has helpful videos on youtube that describe the lasts.  What shoes are you looking at?

When buying online without being able to try on, and I am town between two sizes, I always will go with the bigger one.  Much easier to work with a shoe that's slightly too big than too small.

trubalance I go half size down and it's super comfortable. barrie I went half down too but it's a little tight near the forefoot. I probably should've gone a half size up to accommodate my feet being slightly wider towards the toes.

Thanks for the two helpful replies! So I’m looking at a pair of Norwegian front bluchers. The Shoe Mart says they’re on the Aberdeen last but the listing says they’re on the Barrie last. Maybe the seller is mistaken? Do either of you have experience with the NST?

The inside is stamped with a B/D. What does that mean in terms of width??

http://www.aldenshoe.com/DrawProducts.aspx?Action=GetDetails&CategoryID=2&ProductID=116&PageID=8 - Alden seem to refer to the shoe having the Aberdeen last. I’m pretty sure the stamp indicates a medium width;  with the ‘D’ being the forefoot and the ‘B’ the heel … so, average width in forefoot with narrow heels.

I found this graphic which might help a little:

Is it true there are Japanese exclusive models of Alden or am I not looking hard enough?  I’m looking everywhere for this model but can’t find it outside of The Lakota House.  It’s on a 379x last:

B/d is the width marking. Standard width. Google the model number from the stamp and you’ll be able to find all the specs. This is a useful resource: www.aldenmodelproject.com

That’s a fantastic link. Thanks!

Just recieved a pair of Attractions Lot 444. Same sizing as my Wesco Mister Lou (7.5E for the Wesco, 7.5 for the 444s). They fit well, a pain to put on but that'll be better. I'd argue the sizing is a bit smaller than the Mr Lous, which makes some sense since the Attractions seemingly use a pretty accurate cm sizing scale.

I measured a size 7 on the brannock and wear size 7 in sneakers and boots minus Wesco which is a size 6.  Would I need size 7 in Attractions engineer boots?

I guess it depends on which Wesco last/boots and stuff, but 7 sounds reasonable. Possibly a 6.5.
