Oh, no that was a separate question. Trying to decide what to get... Black case, black bracelet.

Apples to oranges, really. Some opt for the 656 for the clean, readable face. The 756 has a more complex movement and greater functionality, plus the case is tegimented so your dark finish will last longer.

There's a substantial price difference between the two, so it just depends on what is important to you. I like the clean, readable face so I went with the 656s.

While the 656 definitely has a cleaner face, I wouldn't say it is more readable than the 756. Sinn did a great job with dial on the 756. That being said, I kind of want a 656S. They're out of production tho?

I saw that earlier today, I guess they have it there

makes me want to kop btw, but i've got other priorities unfortunately :/

i love both the 756 and 656... the thing about the 756 is that it's a fat ass watch! compared to my other watches, it feels like its an inch tall. you don't realize it as much based on pictures, but when you hold it, its pretty thick. on some shirts, i need to unbutton the sleeve or it won't go past the watch. never happens with any of the other watches.

Eriddw: Ye Watchbuys is the only authorized sinn dealer within the US. You would have to go through them and see what they could do for you. No other AD out of the US will sell you a Sinn.

There was this great pic of a beat up 656s. made me want the 656s so bad, and when i went to watchbuys, it wasn't there =(.

Edit: here it is sinn3.jpg

yeah, i spent like 15 minutes on the phone with the dude. they won't order it from another AD, because they are not selling the 656 anymore. they decided not to sell black plated watches because of quality issues with the black wearing off. I tried to explain that I'm okay with that and it's actually one of the reasons I want that watch over the 756, but they wouldn't do it.

dass real purrrty, ddml

or should i say...REGULATOR???

(done a little watchuseek lurking lately)

anyway, noob in the building

haven't worn a watch in years but have been inspired by this thread

lookin to start small, maybe $500 max

done some research and find myself drawn to the mwc diver and hamilton sub

also like the steinhart and orient sub homages (obv, the steinhart much more so) but cant quite get past the FAKE ROLEX stigma

also my inner aspirational high school student still kind of wants a tag f1

better options in those styles/price ranges? other advice?

If you're worried about the fake rolex aspect of the Steinhart, get the Ocean Black DLC. Rolex don't make a DLC watch.

That was my logic behind the DLC. Be warned tho, the dlc uses c3 superluminova which has that famous green tint. I personally ended up not liking it because I think the light green indices kind of clash with the all black look of the watch.

maybe something like a seiko 6309 or 007

or

precista 300

the military dive watches will scratch that sub itch

and they have a history of their own

international watchman dot com has a bunch to choose from, too

many benrus type 1 homages would work

Steinhart is good stuff.

I have a few Ocean 1's { I'm actually selling my GMT right now ;) } and they've all been really good. The ETA movements are superb, and customer service is second to none.

What does everyone think of the PAM 48 (Panerai); thinking about picking one of those up. Also, anyone have experience with Rolex servicing? I need to send a Day-Date in...thing is super old.
