question -- why was Pan Am giving their pilots gmt masters? For travel I guess, but... I know it's not exactly a diver, but it's more diver than a pilot's watch. Expecting a lot of ocean crashes?

the GMT is for dual time.... Pilots in Pan Am wouldn't need to use their watches to navigate. Their planes would have all that. The Dual time would help them as they got from point A to point B.

GMT have always been pilots watches.

No hate. But I just can't seem to get into that combination. I could see it on a multicolor/ribbon style strap like the one "the relativity" put on the Omega.

But the nato just doesn't do that watch justice.

yea the strap wasn't intended for the DJ, im 50/50 on how it looks.

the maratac straps are great though, the nylon feels a lot more durable and has a gloss/sheen on it compared to the gnomon straps. the buckles are solid and it seems like the holes won't stretch at all.

The strap is about 2 years old and does smell but not overly so - time for a new one. No idea on how to prevent it but i sometimes rotated the wear with an omega AT. New addition now so it doesnt get much wear but think its going to go a nato.

Thumbs up from me on the rollie nato - it depends on what you wear it with but i think it looks pretty good.

i plan to go to dominican and cuba this year, so picked up a diver pro ii strap for my breitling today

That's great. I have a rubber Breitling strap on my Colt GMT. I almost never wear that watch except when at the beach. The perfect combo for island vacations.
