i've had more fun in the past three nights with all the old homies i grew up with than i have had in an entire semester at the new city... bummed that i have to go back to a place where my social life is such a bore. people in my new city are fucking lame in comparison to these people.

Joined a gym so nomore ghetto workouts with water bottles.

It's cold, really cold here in the Bay Area right now. I saw a homeless person under some blankets walking home to my warm apartment and couldn't help but feel pretty shitty. I went into my place and had my roommates make some hot chocolate while I grabbed a couple of sweatshirts. We gathered everything and some Oreos and gave it to the person under the blankets, who turned out to be a middle aged woman trying to sleep in near freezing temperatures. I didn't exchange names with her, and I don't care where she came from but all it matters is she was outside in the freezing cold while we have a roof over our heads. I'm not posting here to boast or farm likes, but reminding others: please be selfless and give during this holiday season. I know this forum drives people to purchase things for themselves, take a step back and give just a small fraction if possible. Happy holidays!

I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt but it gets harder each time you encounter certain individuals

I don't give money but I always give food, not even my leftovers but literally sandwiches, drinks, etc because I would never want to go hungry.

I've had them give it back to me demanding money instead, one guy actually started yelling at me and my friend thought I would be traumatized apparently cos he asked if I was ok,

Another instance this guy comes in, puppy face and begging for a loan, he has spent what benefits he had that month at a casino, and the prior ones too. He hasn't paid rent for two months and is afraid he would be out on the streets; his rent is about 200-300 I can't remember but it was really low because it was gov't housing. I asked if he has any spouse, children, family, friends..nope..when I couldn't help him because he had no collateral, no credit, nothing his face and demeanor changed and just like that he got angry and started yelling at me.

I truly felt bad and if I could give I would but he's only going to snap back into pattern and I may not be a counselor or anything but even trying to convince him he needs help, well..you can only help if they're willing

One more because this is turning into an essay, there are these two ladies that alternate with another man, panhandling in front of this wholefoods..and they make money in turn to deposit into their bank accounts. You wouldn't believe the $$ they gather in a day.

For a sociology class, a friend of mine had to observe panhandlers for a day. He decided to ask one that stood at intersections if he could observe him and the person agreed. Friend said that at the end of the day, the person had made $500. Supposedly a lot of people mistake bigger bills for smaller ones since some are in a hurry to give once the light turns green or whatevs.
