We have now introduced Hiut Denim's updated slim fit known as Hack@. It has a higher rise than the original 2012 fit with a slightly narrower leg opening.

The 14 oz. selvedge denim is custom woven by Kuroki.

The linen waist band makes the jeans very comfortable to wear. Mine have been worn for over a year and I can vouch personally for that. The back pockets are lined for extra durability and the front twill pockets are very strong. The signature red owl rivet remains on the left side back pocket.

The jeans are made in Cardigan on the west coast of Wales in the UK.

Looks like Wilkes St to me, which runs into Fournier St at the side of Christchurch. I half expect to see Gilbert and George lurking in the background!

I think if you peer into the window with the light on G&G are both at work painting shit or something equally uplifting.

Next one up from Fournier St. Princelet St as it meets Wilkes St.

Nice to see some local denim. Nice location too... I know that street but can't place it. Round Spitalfields somewhere right?

Sure is. Well spotted. It's handy for James who makes his bikes up in Hackney

I think we'll be using both location and model again.

Just launched on the site are the 400T Tapered jeans from UES.

This fit has been developed over the last year with the western customer in mind and I think Chuji Matsumoto has done an incredible job combining the beautiful signature 14.9 oz denim with a modern silhouette that will fit those who need room in the rise and the thigh. It is not dissimilar in cut to Flat Head's 3009.

The jean is unsanforized and will lose 1" in the waist, but stretch back out by 1" with wear. The thigh will reduce by 0.5" and the 37" inseam will shrink by 2" maximum. The rich indigo denim is made of a blend of long staple Zimbabwean and brown cotton. Woven on old loom with wooden shuttles there is a touch of slub and nep in its uneven character.

We also took stock of their thick 3 ply socks in grey and navy.

The UES Craftsmen and women in Okayama operate a rare and old machine with 102 needles that weaves the cotton into a low gauge knit. The 3 ply uneven thread gives the appearance of nep.

what? full selvage? did they change this? the first run of the tapered model only featured a half selvage as the other side was lost due to the taper. looks great!

Yes, full selvedge now. I wanted to wait to order until this was achieved and they have done a great job.

Yeah the pair I have only has half-selvage. The full selvage versions looks good though. Danny are you planning to bring in any UES sweats?

I will. UES has been very open to making larger sizes for the western market.

I have a meeting with them in 3 weeks time and I'll see their new collection.

The Indigo Houndstooth Flannel is the thickest The Flat Head has ever made.

It is yet another 'special' piece taking the bar even higher.

It is so thick it has the warmth and substantial feel of wool with all the luxurious comfort of cotton.

The ivory base is covered with an intricate indigo houndstooth pattern.

The inside is brushed extremely soft and the collar, pocket flaps, and cuffs are canvas lined.

Pearloid Universal snaps are used as buttons for the shirt.

The shuttle on the loom had to be exchanged every 5 minutes during the weaving so difficult was the procedure.

Because of this only a limited amount of these shirts was made.

NB. The shirt runs slightly smaller than other western flannels we have carried. You may or may not need to size up so check the size charts

The Flat Head 11.5 oz Hickory Work Shirt consists of a blend of indigo rope-dyed and un-dyed threads.

Due to this the fabric has a unique feel and being indigo will fade. The more you wear it the better it gets just like the indigo houndstooth western.

Details include cat's eye lacquered buttons and chambray lined cuffs and collar.

(On a personal note photographing narrow hickory stripes

at any distance -1 metre for model shots- is an absolute bitch.

The close-up shots give a great feel for the fabric)

3sixteen has added Navy to their selection of 9 oz. Jersey cotton t shirts with over-stitched collars. About time too.

They come in packs of 2 and are a sound investment for anyone looking for a quality t shirt that keeps its shape.

We offer sizes S, M, L & XL. Also available in Black, White and Heather Grey.
