Two backpacks made of Lariat Leather by Mulholland Brothers who made beautiful leather bags and accessories in San Francisco. The one on the left I bought new from them 20 or more years ago and have used it hard. It’s developed beautiful patina and wear over the years. The one on the right I found on eBay recently to give the old one a break. I’ve included a photo of a page from their 1998 catalogue describing Lariat Leather.

Happy '13th' anniversary for my Red Moon Silverman wallet and keybag!
(I have had both swivel hooks replaced, and had the wallet repaired : replaced the snap button & the zip, then re-stitched twice over the 13 years)

Wallet looks awesome Naoto! Glad to see you're still using it :)

I wish I hadn't sold my Redmoon long wallet back in 2013 or so. It was the most functional wallet I've ever used. But since I'm no longer in Japan and just use cards for everything, my Monk Made bifold serves me just fine. Speaking of which, I've had that wallet for over half a year and ought to post some evo pics soon.

Konbanwa.....

Yeah, I think that's the issue......Japan is still a 'cash society' and we seldom use plastics unless we purchase something from internet/mail orders or book hotel rooms.

So I still need a coin pocket in my wallet.

Here's my Monk Made Archbishop wallet. I've been wearing it since I got it almost a year ago. Made from Italian Buttero saddle leather.

This leather has been slower to evolve than some I've worn, but it's extremely nice and clearly a mark above what most one-man workshops are using. The construction is flawless and the best I've seen outside of Japan.

I've gone light on the maintenance, I just cleaned with a damp cloth and conditioned with Sedgwick leather feed.

A breast pocket wallet cut and sewn for me by Charlie at Equus Leather. The leather is Haas Barenia. Haas is a French tannery which made Barenia for Hermès (which eventually bought the tannery). Hermès used Barenia in two of their most famous ladies hand bags, the Kelly and the Birkin. It’s soft leather which ages beautifully because of the tanning process but scratches easily.  Because it’s heavily oiled, most of the scratches can be rubbed out using finger pressure. This was one of the last pieces of Barenia leather Charlie had; Hermès keeps it close to home since they bought the tannery. Here is a short description of the tanning process. Barenia is double-tanned in chrome and vegetable dyes and then soaked in a mix of 9 different oils over 5 - 6 weeks.
