there's a thread about the evolution of leather in the supershopper forum, but i thought it would be a good idea to have a more generic thread over here in superdenim about leatherwork as well. most posters have an interesting piece of leatherwork in their collection of crazy cool denim, or may be looking to purchase some type of leather good, and now there is a place for the more generic topic of leather goods rather than a bunch of threads for smaller more specific topics such as belts, wallets, shoes, etc.

so, post your pics, reviews, or whatever on your leather products; whether it be jackets, wallets, wallet chains, shoes, etc. i'll start off with some pictures of my collection:

tanner goods cardholder and workman's wallet (both in natural)

tanner goods standard belt (in london tan)

the flat head leather wallet chain (natural)

now, lets see what everyone else has!

the butterflies have almost completely disappeared, and the zip's starting to go at the corners, but not a bad run :)

lol, I see you dip everything you got there in indigo bath. I won't be surprised if you next show us your indigo-dyed car! :D

just made a couple leather cardholders.

i stumbled into making this one as i was practicing my stitching.

here's my first purposefully built item. didn't know how to finish/close the stitches, and it was only my second time stitching, ever. pretty happy with it though!

leather keystrap i made out of a scrap left over from making the wallet: was natural, but i treated it with dr. bronner's lip balm (i was curious as to what it would do, i used orange ginger good stuff) i've been rocking it on the daily for a few months.

this is the tomthumb purse i made this weekend. tandy leather kit, samurai denim. i blessed this baby with plenty of shea, the leather salve of champions. i've stopped smoking weed/cigarettes for good now( 15 years of smoking trees 3-4 times a day is enough for anybody) so now i've replaced the harmful, stinky smoke with wonderful smelling oils. costs less, and smells better. so i keep 2 bottles in here...im sure the sam denim will fade over time, and it has nice slub and a nice rouge warp knot. i made one a while back but it was stitched with leather lace so it dry-rotted and the thing fell apart. so i used black gimp/boondoggle lace for this one. the leather they use for the zipper part of this kit ages so wonderfully. just wait. i would've used the one from the other pouch but i wanted the raw denim and raw leather to age together. ya dig? the round thingy at the top is a compass to determine the qibla(direction of makka, saudi arabia) from anywhere in the world. i refuse to miss any of my 5 daily prayers anymore. no joke.

here's the inside of the wallet , and everything i wear on my hip:

86711591.jpg

RYOT bowl case turned phone case( fits like a glove)

3/4 inch thick beefy wallet lanyard ( i can't wait to see this joint brown up)

phone

tomthumb and qibla compass

keys

everything leather has been treated by a generous, 4 step shea butter rubdown. after i twisted and bent the lanyard every which way it's rather soft after i took an hour to keep rubbing shea into it. it kept sucking it up. i fattened the grain and flesh sides

wallet is fading slowly since it sits in my back pocket, an it can never be washed due to the leather...

i'll holla back in a few months when some of this stuff starts changing...

im interested in making things out of a mix of leather and denim like salaami, can someone link me to information about how to start making things like that.

hm...strictly to making a mix of leather and denim, I'm sure it is out of innovation and wont have any informations online to read about. At the most, probably just some pics to shown.

But if you wanna learn basic leathercrafting, there are plenty of forums, websites that offer such info.

For a one-stop pics browsing, check out supershopper, Leather PYC thread. Or...try google.

Bootleggers "Rockstar Reunion" line right? That hide is a thing of beauty.....

Sadly you'd never get away with wearing it when you're fifty though, and that's the kind of timeframe you would need to be thinking of in order to justify paying it's price, IMO.

'Course if you have a spare couple of grand lying around there are much worse ways you could spend it.....and it's probably better made than a new Gretsch.:P

very nice! And if we're allowed to do jackets....

Schott Perfecto (named after the cigar). This is entirely for posing, I don't ride a bike, but it is very warm and wind&waterproof, and very comfortable. I've had it for about 4 years and I wear it most days through the winter:
