this thread makes me realize how much red moon has fallen off.

I still think my Red Moon long wallet is the best-feeling leather I've ever touched, out of all the wallets I've seen/handled only Flat Head's stuff has rivaled RM's quality. The only problem with RM is that their machine stitching isn't as tough as the more expensive tendon hand stitching used by Flat Head and other small Japanese makers, but mine seems to be holding up just fine.

Used for fifteen months.

Seeking advice from you experienced & knowledeable leather guys.

Is this a defect that would fall into the "returnable" category? i purchased this belt at a reputable retailer (made by a reputable maker), it's veg tanned and dyed Latigo color. I'm sure both the retailer and maker would happily work with me, I just don't kow if it's a defect or character mark? i didn't notice the damage/imperfection (for lack of a better term) until I got it home and was applying a coat of conditioner.

I'm not concerned with the dark circle (pictured in 1st image above) but rather the imperfections along the lower edge.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Hey guys, long time since I posted her last!

Anyways, thought I would share a new wallet I have made, vegetable tanned leather with a reddish brown stain, hand stitched with wax nylon thread. Wallet is inspired by Devilish Russet wallet, this is a bifold, vertical card holder style. The leather is incredible, nice and stuff and really is impressive in person. Its should to wear in beautifully over time. I'm actually selling these if anyones interested!

Enjoy

This may be the wrong spot to ask this but I am looking for a wallet, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Studio D'Artisan Wallet mid-length, if I should hold out for the flat head mid length or if you had any suggestions? Thank you all for your time.

The SDA mid-wallets (like on BiG) are machine-stitched.  Flat Head makes similar wallets at a similar price, but the ones sold by Self Edge, etc. are from the Stockburg leather workshop.  These are made from original harness leather rather than saddle leather, and are hand-stitched with double cow tendon thread.
