Doesn't the B/D width indication means it's not consistently a D width throughout?

The B/D indication basically identifies the width at fore and heel with B for the heel and D for the width. Most shoes just state the the width and assumes the heel widens appropriately (e.g., B/D, C/E, etc.). Alden is one of the few brands that still marks both measurements.
