Death From Above 1979 - March 12 2005 @ Koo's Art Center, Long Beach, CA. Pretty big room, but with barely any stage. Crowd was insane, everyone all packed around the stage.

The International Noise Conspiracy - July 27, 2005 @ The Poison Apple, Los Angeles, CA. Room the size of my bedroom with tons of people in it. 45 minute set that only ended because it was so freaking hot in there.

The Hold Steady - October 16, 2006 @ The Troubadour, West Hollywood, CA. Every time I've seen the Hold Steady it's been a religious experience, but no time more so than the first time I saw them. Not only are they one of the best live acts I've ever seen, Craig Finn consistently writes the most amazing lyrics, and Tad Kubler plays the best hard rock guitar anyone is playing these days. Furthermore, Tad let me play his guitar while everyone was rushing the stage during the encore:

radiohead greater than TAAS?

These Arms Are Snakes live have been the best concerts I have seen. Opening for International Noise Conspiracy on December 10th 2005 at Slim's SF, March 28th 2006 opening for Isis at Great American Music Hall SF, October 19th at headlining at Grog Shop Cleveland were all great. Opening on the Mastadon tour was not too great due to 6pm set time and dumb audience.

GAMH show was best. First time hearing most of the Easter stuff and Snere had the biggest emotional breakdown at that show from what I've seen +++

Yelle at Knitting Factory NYC last February was also surprisingly great. Boris at Knitting Factory NYC last March was good too... truly terrifying how loud it was.

Best party show ever has to be Girl Talk's late show at Bowery Ballroom September 19th 2007.

Really want to see Isolee or DJ Koze someday but I don't know when the last time either came to the US was.

Raconteurs earlier this month. Probably the most enjoyable concert I've ever been to.

Also, QOTSA @ the Webster about 3.5 years ago. My brother and I were the tallest people ever and Josh Homme acknowledged it. Also an amazing concert. That was my first time seeing them live as well.

Joe Ely & the Clash

at the Palladium in Dallas 1979

was the first time I ever heard "I'm so bored with the USA"

I was 12 and that wasn't even my first concert (That would be KISS on the Love Gun tour)

I saw a ton of great shows at the Old Bronco Bowl on Ft. Worth ave.

when I was in High School (R.E.M.'s first tour, Pretenders, Depeche Mode,

New Order, Thrill Kill Cult, Killing Joke, Ministry, REVCO, Skinny Puppy,

The Smith's, Ramones, Roxy Music and whole bunch more I can't think of

right now).

Every Hold Steady show I've seen has been awesome, except last year's. I'm really looking forward to this upcoming show...out with the stadium seating, back with First Avenue general admission. The year POS's Audition was released, he and Craig performed "Safety in Speed" in before any set even started.

Also, Lifter Puller at the Weisman (their swansong, til a reunion a few years ago)

Black Keys in the 7th St. Entry, every time esp. this past April before the First Ave show

Pizzicato Five in the 7th St. Entry

Low's really early shows up north

I think I've already posted in this thread, but I need to make an addition:

saw Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings at the appollo theatre about a month ago, it was the album launch and it was freaking incredible. Tight as shit band, some of the best sound I have heard in a large venue, great vibe from the crowd, and sharon jones has an awesome stage presence.

I can't rep you for this but I would. It's like seeing a band from another time.

Okkervil River and The New Pornographers at 9:30 in DC April of this year.

I've been a huge fan of each and finally got a chance to see Okkervil, who were great live. It just does not compare to with their albums

UK Fresh '86 best ever and can never be topped for me.

Raw fresh hip hop from a fledgling scene all under the one roof Wembley July 19 1986

Hearing DJ Cheese transformer scratch brought the roof down - amazing.

Flash,Bambaataa,Word of Mouth, Jekyll & Hyde, Sir Mixalot, Mantronix, Steady B,Starsky the list goes on.

Pioneers.

22 years on and nothing has come close to it yet.
