Radiohead at the Greek Theater in Berkeley CA. I went to both nights, both were amazing, although I thought the second night was better.

My favorite shows:

- Slint in Philly and Chicago last year

- going on tour with Melt Banana and Breather Resist 2 years ago

- Touring Japan with Envy and City of Caterpillar (holy fuck) in 2002, particularly the Tokyo shows and the shows with Nice View and Idol Punch

- Mastodon in NYC in 2001 (they played to 20 people and absolutely destroyed)

- Crimson Curse, Reversal of Man, Assuck, and I think Brutal Truth in Chicago in like '96 or '97

- His Hero Is Gone in Chicago in '96

- The VSS in Chicago in '96

- Shellac in NYC in '95

- Fugazi always delivered every time I saw them

I can go on all night

atmosphere consistently wreck stages.

i would say the same for the roots but the last time i saw them they dissapointed LARGE. which is saying alot because the time i saw them before that i would have said they were the best thing since vagina.

NERD is fucking incredible live as well. pharrel cant skate worth jizz, but his voice is incredible live. i didnt buy the $100 BBC shirt though, so maybe i wasnt at that show.

i've been very lucky in having worked in the concert industry for the last ten

years or so, i've gotten to see some AMAZING shows, soundchecks, private

moments with bands, etc. i would guess i've seen 5000 concerts or more, many

from back stage or the sound booth.

some shows that stick out to me (you can clown some of them if you want. . .i aint

scared)

BS 2000 at the beehive theater in pittsburgh circa 2000

grateful dead 3/30/94 omni center atlanta last darkstar

beastie boys and tribe called quest rose garden in portland circa 99

William Parker Quartet at the fez ballroom in portland 2003 or so

Bobby Previte's Bump (feat. wayne horovitz on grand piano, steve swallow

on bass. . .damn)

Prince (musicoligy tour)

stone temple pilots soundcheck at rolling rock town fair summer 2001

the roots band with slum village (r.i.p. jay dee), dead prez, and others 2000

Rokia Traore at the fez ballroom circa 2002

I could go on and on

Dinosaur Jr. w/ Love Spit Love 1995 WCU gym.

new bomb turks w/ the showcase showdown 1995 upstairs at nick's philly

curious as to if any native NY'ers went to the 1992 CMJ showcase of My Bloody Valentine with Superchunk and Pavement as openers. probably the most amazing bill I could ever imagine.

Buzzcocks, this year. Everyone was a bit weirded out by their newer material, then they came back on and did a half hour encore of all their hits. Cue a couple of hundred 40 year old men going absolutely batshit.

Of the other 80 odd bands I've seen this year, the long heralded return of My Vitriol at a one off gig in London was one hell of a show... not just because of the mammoth wall of sound coming from the band, but the absolute diehard nature of MV fans who came from all over Europe to cram into a 1650 head venue.

That's all I can be arsed to list right now.

Dizzee Rascal, Volume, Williamsburg '04

damn, i forgot about this one... it was so good, they used a flatbed truck as a stage.

so many of my favorite shows do not necessarily correspond to my favorite music, so its hard.

Flaming Lips/Beck, Syracuse 2002. the tour where the flaming lips were his backup band.

Animal Collective, everytime i see them (almost).

Tenacious D/Galactic/Ween, Red Rocks 2001. this one's weird, cause i really can't stand two out of the three bands (the D and galactic) but it was red rocks, and everyone brought their a game, and the whole time Ween was playing, it seemed like they were thinking, "we're playing red rocks, and we still can't believe we own all these instruments!"...but much to my amazement, it was an amazing show.

The Unicorns, The Knitting Factory, NYC 2003. Nick Diamonds poured honey all over his guitar...they played forever.

Bob Dylan, Telluride town square, 2000. probably flame worthy on these boards, but this show was incredible.
