Its funny how Americans are debating who was first to rock a Japanese streetwear brand that bottles classic American and English counter-culture looks. The designer is the dictator and the thief. You either follow him or you follow another....or you don't follow at all. I like Undercover because, to me, Jun is a bit of an introvert. You always see a bit of his weird interests in his presentations. But just like every designer that rehashes classic American clothing and counterculture, all he's really doing is modernizing the materials and the fit and playing with proportions....then repackaging it for the insatiable modern consumer....always at least 10 years after the original look had peaked. The Japanese are always late on this stuff, but they always perfect it. Jun is like the Japanese Raf Simons.

not that strange. the majority of posters aren't interested in fashion enough to delve deeper and find out about more obscure designers, so they're going to be limited to the spectrum of what's popular around these parts.

I'd have to agree w/ this. Certainly seeing things in real life gives you better perspective. Especially in an age of photoshopping, styling, profressional lighting, what you see on the internetz is not necessarily what you get...

Well the reality is SUFU has basically become a dumping ground for people trying to sell their jawnz. Click "View New Content" at any time of the day and basically the same market threads of crappy goods that never sell.

like the blind leading the blind in here. UC has been available and worn at least in auckland since 2006/2007 in a mainstream store. nothing trend setting of baconzilla [no offence] who is from auckland to be wearing it in 2010.

fuck i think it was 2010 when i gifted some undercover boots to sidney lo which i had thrashed for three years, and i remember some of the UC parasitic collection being mixed in with the ann d, junya, and comme that was pretty normal for middle aged ladies to consign back in 2005, 2006 when i managed a designer resale store.

people seem to be getting confused by the re-emergence of the trad american look that is being called #menswear, into thinking that these designers that have been around since the beginning of superfuture waywt are a new discovery.

back in 2005/06 when djajio was introducing brands like julius and dbss to a wider audience through the boards there was something happening, and the same could be said for some of the promotion of urban techwear brands that happened over the last few years.

the NB trend of last year reminded me of '05 when members from europe and the asia pacific regions were wearing limited NB hype instead of the nike SB that was still the thing in the US at the time. most of these new trends seem newer on the fashion internet as discussion is dominated by people from north america, which from my time there seemed like the least fashion forward place.
