Thanks dude, I think they are from the 70's or 80's, but i'm not really sure. I bought them from a lady off on craigslist. she found them in her fathers garage while cleaning it for him. When I purchased them they had never been worn, and they were still in the box with inspection certificate... pretty cool.

nicee...rare and cool

thumbs up!

Hmmm, just brought mine up from the basement yesterday. Do you all wear yours also in summer?

Wish mine would look like that, but i mostly use them as sh..weather boots in winter so they always stay heavily oiled (i.e. verrry dark, almost like freshly dubbed).

I don't wear 'em in summer. But spring and autumn like now are already very good to wear them...winter of course too ;)

Colosseum, it's impressive that you were able to wear them as long as you did. I ditch Vans sooner than that.

I made my 2970 darker by polishing them with black shoe polish. I wear mine daily though i'll be getting a new pair of boots in November so they won't see as frequent wear.

All these great engineer's boots are making me want a pair! :o

Do you find them as comfortable as lace-up boots? I always worried that there would be too much slippage...

Denton is correct, but they are made by Alfred Sargeant and I'm pretty sure you can get them cheaper directly from AS.

You'll be lucky, these days. Since their re-launch, AS only run the Exclusive and Handgrade lines which are in the C&J price range (£300-£400).

There's plenty to love in those ranges, though, including these MTO beauties:

And their Montague boot looks like a White's model, or at least it does to my untrained eye...

Get the right size and you'll wear them every day. Super comfortable and an easy transition from sneakers due to the flat sole.

Looks better, IMO :D

Another Tricker's factory shop pick-up, in "mahogany" shell (Horween's).

This one is for the horse leather footwear contest :)

And as the sunlight hits:

These were seconds because of stained welting at the toe of both boots... 95% of which I removed with fingernails and an eraser, haha :D

Right:

Now it's just noticeable on the left boot, but I can't be bothered removing any more of it...

I found a great supplier for old half soles and heels this week and I took a trip over to their store today. The store itself was quite interesting, with wall to wall shelves filled with leather and shoe repair supplies and I actually had to set up an appointment to see them. But no pics, because I didn't think to bring a camera.

They had just what I was hoping to find, and I bought a big chunk of their old stock for the boots I have and the boots I might have in the future.

The haul:

I have never seen this style with the arched back in person before, but I am told they are the hardest to find and the oldest style.

Thought some might be interested in seeing some more unusual varieties of Cat's Paw soles.

Great find rayw44! Especially them soles, looks yum :)

A little much don't you think? How many boots do you own and do you plan on getting a resole every time you walk outside?

When are people going to get over Cat's Paws? I mean really, who gives a shit?

I give a shit.

If I was there I'd have bought more, since that kind of stuff is impossible to find in my part of the world.

Vintage/repro soles & heels aren't just for collection, they're also functional.

When someone spends $500 or $1000 on a pair of footwear for the quality build & intricate details, why cheap out on the materials for subsequent re-building?

In the wrong thread to complain about Cat's Paw mate~

I've been corresponding with Baker's about the new White's engineer boot and here's the latest:

"I talked to the president of White's boots on Monday and they're waiting to receive a sewing machine for the backstay of this boot. They have made some prototypes with some machinery that they currently have, but they weren't happy with the output. They're expecting this to be up and going very soon. White's is also launching a western boot line under the Hathorn name and in the near future they will be offering a customer White's western boot line. They are re-modeling the factory and taking some space out of the retail store to accommodate a new 'pull-on section' in the factory that will be for the engineer and the western boots. "
