Just got my new pair, Horween Bullhide. A bit on the flashy side for most, not for me.

what do you guys think about these boots? they're $150 and seem to be a solid substitute/alternative for the alden indy due to their pricing- i have no job, so bear with me.

also does anyone have any experience with the lands end boots in general? thanks for your guys input.

THey might look look Alden Indys - what's the benefit? Why not try a few thrift stores? Buy cheap and you're not necessarily saving money.

If you want a budget workboot, might be worth looking at some of the military repro sites - someone here, I can't remember if it's airfrog or erk, has a pair of WWII roughouts that are terrific value for money. Because they're made to be worn, not to look good in a shop.

Just as an example, these might wear well:

Or roughouts for $99:

I suspect either of these will wear a lot better than a budget high street boot. I'd love someone with experience of them to post and prove me wrong. Factor in whether your flash-looking boots will take a resole or two, and you might find they're bad value for money, rather than a bargain.

www.atthefront.com stock quite a range of military repro boots. might be this one you're thinking about.

Don't waste money on shit boots. Get used good boots. Still better than new shit boots.

couldn't have said it better. great advice.

I'm surprised these new redwing beckman chukka boots have not been posted yet.... someone else can post a picture I'm sure.

I am actually pretty tempted by the black ones, but red wings never fit me so well.

well if you do get the lands end boot, the nice thing is if you don't like it you can return it to any sears store for a refund...

I need some feedback about White's SD.

1) I wear 7EEE in Alden 405. Should I size the same for SD?

2) How does the #38 Retro Semi Dress Americana by White's Boots compare to the 2011 White's Classic Work Boot as seen on bakershoe.com? What exactly is the "classic last" like?

Thanks.
