those McCoys and Buco's are out of this world and im out of rep for you coleslawyum

marineabilly told me the buco's run somewhat large; im a size 8 in Alden Barrie/Trubalance and he suggests I could fit a size 7.5. In any case I plan to try on LoneWolf/Buco/McCoys next time in Japan so I know which size to get when an opportunity comes along to buy one cheap(er)

No disrespect to Red Wing 2268 fans, but I feel the same way. I'm more of a Chippewa fan myself. I think the thing that rubs the wrong way is the square instep buckle. I like the vintage rectangular roller buckles as well as the lower placement of the strap.

I think Red Wing has always used square instep buckles. This is a pair I came across recently that are pretty old with square buckles. But the current 2268 is definitely lacking in comparison to the older examples.

I think they are pretty old because of the tag, but I wish they were a bigger size.

Do you mean where would I get them resoled? I always send them to my man, Takeshi-san, in Tokyo, who's mentioned on this thread every few pages or so. He's done many pairs for me.

They probably won't get resoled for a few years, since I rotate my shoes a lot so they don't wear down that fast. The heels always goes first, and I usually get them done locally. I usually bring the heels from my stash of Cat's Paw for them to use.

Do you have something specific to repair?

^thanks, (sorry for misspell)

i figured that you would send those to Takeshi-san, but just wanted to be certain..

i have not had any work done with him, since reading about him here on SuFu, and seeing his work in mags and blogs, there would be no other choice..

i figured i would do the same with my McCoys as well once the front sole wears away..

good to know..

thanks again

This question might be inane to most of you and this might not be the right place for me to post, but I'll go ahead anyway.

Anyone know what site's the best to order a pair of RW GT 9011 from? I've heard lots of good things about cultizm.com and Dejan but the sizes they keep at the moment would not work for me. Sent him an e-mail asking about when a restock's likely, but no reply so far. Also it seems there might be sites out there that sell 'em cheaper than the 340 bux it'd cost me to get them off cultizm.

Someone in the loop who can hook me up?

Also, I'm SURE sizing questions have come up before, but I'll pester you anyway. If I wear a US 8 in my Clarks Desert Boots, what size should I go for with these RWs?

By "the North" do you mean you're in northern England? If you are in the U.S. they've got em' here for $260:

I did now, and Sivletto would charge me 120 more dollars than a store across the atlantic ocean would. Funny, huh? Sent an e-mail to Unionville to see what they're about. Thank you again for the suggestions.

EDIT:

Same deal with Unionville apparently. I'll go with zonkshop, they seem like a nice bunch.

yes they do. they are very pro.

look some online shops in uk. enjoy google.

they are the cheapest in europe.

jeg bor i Oslo.

jeg kan forstå deg.

RW er så taxert i Norge eller Sverige.

ridiculous.

If you know all these amazing stores I could buy Red Wing Shoes from, why not give me a link instead of telling me to use google?

Cultizm.com aren't based in Norway or Sweden, though, and they still sell it for a steep price. It is a little saddening. Guess I'll have to step up my consumption of Jim Beam to cope.
