Shoes that look better with age...

I have the 1909 and 1910 and both fit the same. I believe I tried on the 9014 once and the fit I think was pretty similar. The Horween leather of the 19xx models seems a little softer though, which may give the impression that they fit bigger (also, the leather may stretch more, but I don't have sufficient experience with the featherstone leather to say for sure).

thanks a lot CG!

Do these require a Veldtschoen specialist to resole?

Preferably, yes. Mine were done by John Rushton, Wimpole Street, and Ben by Koko's in East Finchley.

DO check out the blog for more info - I'll be posting suggestions for more people who can do a resole soon.

Here are my WESCO, boss boots. These were made to order for my very narrow foot. Marineabillys blog (http://vintageengineerboots.blogspot.com/) was extremely helpfully in researching my order before I placed it. Western last in standard heel height. Personally I love the western profile very vintage looking, standard brown stitching on the uppers and white stitching on the sole. Standard Black steer leather, which is quite flat almost pull up in appearance. Vibram #705 half sole with brown painted edges.

quick question for you guys. I recently got a pair of Julian Boots off of ebay - (very similar to these http://www.reveilleshop.com/shop/julian-the-reveille-boot/). should I put a shoe tree in them? there doesn't seem to be any harm in it, but I worry that to push it in I'm somehow damaging the top of the boot. in general do boots need shoe trees?

anyone else wear a 9.5 in trubalance and a 9 in white's sd?

hmmmm? well when i tried on a pair fo SD the guy said they were out of 9.5, so i went for 9 just to try it out and it worked. it's weird, because i usually wear a 10 in vans and my foot is a tiny bit big on that.

I was the same in both. Personally, the SD last fits my foot better though.

makes sense, if this is the case then it does show that white`s might be on the loose side (alden modified/tb/barrie lasts run big) but from what I`ve read most ppl go tts and if the 9 fits, then you`re good. better a little long in length than small esp if the ball of your foot doesn`t align with the widest part of the shoe

you better send them a foot tracing. My white's size was accurate to my heel to toe brannock measurement which was 10.5C for semidress. I wear a 11.5D in trubalance and 11D in modified last.

according to Moulded shoe, my foot is perfect for the modified last. which would explain why I've had such a problem with finding the right size in 405s and semi-dress ( which are almost finished being relasted to a custom last because of my weird foot.) so maybe this doesn't apply to you.

better safe than sorry, so I'd do a foot tracing. don't wanna get F'd. but if you do get F'd - white's is really awesome about helping you un-F your self.

edit : also, its really annoying that superfuture makes everything lower case when you post a response.

hey all...a bit of a picky/stupid question, but it's mostly out of curiosity.

just got a pair of boots with a steel shank and dainite sole (the peal & co. for bb if it matters)...and literally on the first day wearing them out (in rain), i'm noticing that the right boot is squeaking near the ball of my foot as i lift weight off of it. it's not coming from the sole...more in between the outsole and insole.

i've only experienced something like this once before...and it was on a pair of wolverine 1ks that i beat to shit for over 2 years. i was told upon resoling that it was damage to the shank...yet somehow, i would like to believe that a pair of brand new boots would not be having this problem. Nor am i noticing any structural deficit...and....they're brand new.

anybody have any suggestions as to what this might be? or experienced a similar annoyance? or can say if it just goes away with time? the squeaking in my wolverine's never went away until i got it repaired...it just got worse.

thanks in advance

you got some weird foot lol.

my whites are measured right on the brannock heel to toe as well (heel to ball didnt matter for me since my heel to toe yielded a larger measurement). The alden Plaza last for example runs TTS so I just use my brannock size and for the bigger lasts like tb/barrie/modified I size down by 1/2 just as suggested by leather soul. Fits just fine.

So if you`re whites are taken from brannock why do you size up for the Alden tb/modified lasts? If anything, if you`re a 10.5c on the brannock you should be like a 10c in the alden bigger lasts. but then again, I know the brannock measures in 2d only but either you have the wrong measurement or you got some more fat in your feet that the brannock does not show in length and width.

My heel to ball measurement is larger than heel to toe. No extra fat...

When I was first measured for 405s I was told I needed a 10.5 C, when I got the 10.5C they were really uncomfortable around my big toe and pinky. So it was suggested I go with the heel to ball measurement, which was 11.5 and was very comfy. The whites seem to actually be the same length as the 405s. I got measured for modified last at moulded shoe in NYC and they put me in an 11d, which seemed comfy. So I dont know why my sizing is so different from everyone else, but that's the way it goes.
