Have you noticed that this spate of 555 501s and 201s all appear to have a price sticker in the same place on the cardboard size tag? Presumably they are part of a job lot which became available in the UK/Europe recently. Anyone know whose price tag it is? From recollection the 1996 501s and 201s used to retail for £180. In March 2012 I scored a job lot of 555 201s from the USA. I heard that in the late 1980s or  1990s someone found a job lot of real vintage deadstock 501s. Can anybody tell the story of those?

I still haven’t been able to uncover any definitive evidence re the 822 button code but here’s a bit of interwebz detective work.

First, a link to a pair of LVC 1873 First Blue Jeans for sale at Pavement Clothing in Japan with an 822 button and 555 tag. The description from the site is below.

“The W31L36 has number 555 on both the reverse side of the top button and the inner tag whereas the W36L38 has 822 for the button and 555 for the inner tag, however they are both from the same 2000 collection and made in the Valencia factory. Also the W31 has the paper tag missing. The w36 has all the tags attached.”

I’ve also seen an LVC 507 jacket on Japanese Amazon with a description including an 822 button code, claiming they were made in 2000 at Valencia St.

Finally, here’s a screen capture from eBay of another pair of LVC 1873s currently for sale ($600), with an 822 tag, made in 1999. The seller doesn’t know which factory this represented. I think this is the same pair/photo that Dr Heech posted yesterday.

@Dry Why so many jeans? You clearly wont get to wear them all in one lifetime. Or are you just a hoarder?  :)

and why no 70s or 80s... if u have everything of everything else?

I have some jeans actually bought in the 1970s and 1980s and some deadstock non-selvedge Made in the USA pairs from Interstate in the 1990s so the LVC versions didn't have the same appeal. Also I went through an Ironheart and Full Count phase. I also don't have any 1927 or  1915 LVCs.

If you haven’t found the perfect pair might be time to consider another brand!

Only joshing - sounds like an amazing collection / pension.

I’d be intrigued to see some of the older 1800s styles.

@unders really spectacular wear on those, maybe you should have had 20 backup pairs (of varying sizes obviously) so your waistline challenges would have been met and you now wouldn't be crying into your pint in the corner.

Joshing aside, just ribbing you @Dry - you buy as many pairs as you want if you feel you haven't enough in reserve.

I myself did the same back in the earlier 2000's, although l probably had 2 or 3 raw pairs in various sizes and an example or 2 of each 555 piece, including duck stuff and all the jackets. I moved on since then to the likes of CSF, FW and more recently WH.

Hey what size are you (raw)? Maybe we could do a Nos/tagless trade? I have a pair of 1937s sz 34x32 l'd be willing to swap for something similar in a similar size (obvs :P)  - got a 1901 in a 34?

Good to see some activity on this thread and a nice balance of LVC appreciation and LVC bashing, both of which warm my little heart.

Here are my old 47s, retired many years ago due to crotch blowout and waistline challenges.

good to see yr '47 has succumbed to the dreaded crotch explosion...

Thanks @silencejoe. I think this is the link to the original list I posted.

I don’t see 822 on there or 233M.

Hello guys, It's my first post here. I am Denimseeker (ig: denim_seeker).
I have been collecting vintage jackets for a while, esp. denim jackets. Feeling that the denim world deserves a better guide for Levi's denim jackets so I tried my best to make one. The guide is much more complicated than those you see on other websites (i.e. Heddel's or Long John etc) so you might need some basic understanding to read it. This guide is open for comments and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know. This guide is still a work in progress and would be wonderful if everybody in the denim world can contribute.
      That being said, enjoy!

      Hi All,
see you again on 2020 and I wish you all happy new year. this time I need your opinion about Levi's BIG E that I found at flea market few days ago. I found an old Levi's vest (its a jacket once before), this vest do not have a cinch back, I also cannot see the number on the back of button, tag was unavailable. only rivets, red tab and selvedge that I can see clearly. here's I send you the details. Hopefully someone here can give me an opinion regarding this Levi's. Any opinions are welcome, I do appreciated.
      please let me know.

I checked the Encyclopedia thread and only one Levi's link didn't give a 404 error, so here goes nothing. I should add that a lot of the center patch jeans actually aren't vintage (at least the ones I'm looking for) and date back to around 2006. I've talked with Levi's support a handful of times and got nothing out of it. I'm trying to figure out what all the center patch pairs are. I know I haven't quite figured them all out, but I've found a few, though they seem very hard to come by, and obviously aren't currently in production. I'd really like to find a pair with the white "Quality Never Goes Out of Style" center patch. Something tells me I don't have the ideal wording, and if I knew exactly what to type, I could probably find a plethora of those jeans. When I google 519's, I have to block the words extreme or skinny (add a - in front of whatever word you don't want to see in the results) or I get mostly brand new pairs of 519's. Here's what I know so far:

This pair, which can be seen clearly in the first photo and on this store page (which has other photos of the same pair) appears to be 519 slim fit. However, they don't seem to be the normal 519 slim fit. One site I looked at called them "519 slim fit side adjusters". I have looked extensively over the past couple of weeks and was lucky to find that clear photo, as well as that store listing and one Ebay listing which sold a while back. On a side note, I found that 511 skinny leg (or a version, rather) seems to look the same, with the centered white patch and waist adjusters, but they too are hard to find. The 511's and 519's have a white patch that says, "Quality Never Goes Out of Style". There may be others as well.

You may recognize these from the Moonbathing ads. They are part of the "Two Horse Brand" collection, which have a yellow and white patch and say "Two Horse Brand" on the patch. 506 and 511 look identical, while 509 has the addition of a cinch back. There might be other fit numbers I'm missing.
