what's a phone fade doing on a "original" pair of 1947 Levi's?

I’m sure this fine “vintage” pair have been floating around a while now, I might ask the seller for a pic of the back of the waist button..

And check out the 502’s he has for sale  for £4995.00 ... with 1st class signed for postage . .

I suggest he changes his username to comicdenim, what a joker

The 1954 501ZXXs have changed. Here we have 3 pairs made of Cone denim. The top right W34 L36 stem from around 2010 (I bought a similar pair at that time) and the 2 other pairs (W32 L34) are more recent. Note the much longer fly and dull rivets on the older variant as well as different Cone denim.

Just found a deal for made in usa 1966 still unworn recently, however im not sure if its legit or not! Since the color of the denim is pretty light and the feel is "light and softer" than my 76', but then again i dont have any experience in the 1966 jeans.

Can someone help identify it if its the real deal or not:biggrin: would really appreciate it! The color of the denim is most accurate in the 3rd pic

The denim does look a little light in colour although it’s hard to tell from a photo. That aside, they seem to have all the correct details and look genuine enough and appear to be from 2014.

Double stitch waistband on a 66 model?

Thought that didn't come out until 1970?

4420 on the top button. Those are legit. Same as on my USA 1890s and 1955s.

@Dr_Heech Was always part of the LVC '66 models so that is consistent (although wrong then)

@beautiful_FrEaK Yeah l guess l just never noticed that mistake. Quite obvious now l look at it but tbh l was never keen on this model what with the weird arcs and all, so never gave it a second glance.

I'm so sorry about the absolutely unaesthetic background... my house is shite. When I'm with my lady I'll make her take some proper photos. This will have to do for now! 20210114_110741.thumb.jpg.136520d67871d1a7cc864f32d5cea536.jpg

Check out these 1944 555s I got..  I made the mistake of thinking they were originally raw and that the 32W 34L after quite a lot of washing would be a good fit for me.
they have to be a prewash though because they are BAGGY.. you can still see the screen printed arcs on the edges a bit. Patch gone, and no dark blue underneath.. another possible tell tale that these were sanforised.

Not sure what I will do with them, maybe take them in, keep them as they are, maybe for denim for any future patching requirements. The crotch could use some attention, it has previously been fixed.. I don’t know if the baggy grunge look is growing on me maybe..

Somehow, to my eyes the silver threaded label does not match the denim which looks similar to that on my made in Bulgaria 1937s attached. I have never been a fan of 1944s but will dig out some from around 2000 to compare. Do you think the label could have been swapped? The top button doesn't look right to me, either

@andyrcii Those 1944 '501's' are a ladies cut mate, model 701. The photo of the label states 44701. So the denim is definitely sanforized.

Only just noticed the label @Duke Mantee - time for another eagle eyes test for sure.

Here's how the label should read for the 1944 501 model -

Hi guys,

what do you think of this fit? I always used to have slim fit jeans like momotaro and benzak. I’m curious about what you guys think. I haven’t shrinked them, i think the waist will be to tight then.

finally someone shows up in a pair of 84s, great!

the fit looks right to me. do they come true to size?

how is the denim? is it hairy? at the pics on the Levis site it looks rather flat and uniform compared to the 76s denim or other denims being used for the lvc line.

Thanks! I think it’s a great piece of denim, compared to the ‘54 it runs a tad smaller in the waist if i remeber that correct!

The denim isn’t hairy it’s a flat piece of japanse denim. It seems to be more thick then the other LVC rigid ones, some websites say it’s 12 OZ other ones seems too tell me it’s 14 OZ

it’s a thing i need to get used to i guess then are a little tight, but i can button up rather easy.

It’s all too easy to focus on the the denim, stitching, rivets etc. We’re nerds and sometimes we can get too immersed.

Is there a thread on here that details how to read the care labels (sorry I don’t know, I’m a noob)?

^ Edit .. Who is that imposter?

Well l've never looked into it deep enough @Duke Mantee like a true denim nerd would but afaik the top line is (obvs) waist and lnseam size then the model number 44501 (+ l haven't got a clue), then second line down again clueless, third line down is where it was made and wool production board reg number (l think?)

Last line l think is factory number, batch number(??) and the date of manufacture.

@Dr_Heech I’ll search through and see what I can find here. I’d assumed someone might have put some care label data up ... and not that I was expecting you to have done so, nor was I expecting you to have identified that label, I just thought it was funny that after a number ‘serious’ posts about the jeans that one particular conclusion was reached - but more funny to me because the duchess (quite unwittingly) commented the jeans looked a bit ‘girly’

Hello guys, It's my first post here. I am Denimseeker (ig: denim_seeker).
I have been collecting vintage jackets for a while, esp. denim jackets. Feeling that the denim world deserves a better guide for Levi's denim jackets so I tried my best to make one. The guide is much more complicated than those you see on other websites (i.e. Heddel's or Long John etc) so you might need some basic understanding to read it. This guide is open for comments and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know. This guide is still a work in progress and would be wonderful if everybody in the denim world can contribute.
      That being said, enjoy!

      Hi All,
see you again on 2020 and I wish you all happy new year. this time I need your opinion about Levi's BIG E that I found at flea market few days ago. I found an old Levi's vest (its a jacket once before), this vest do not have a cinch back, I also cannot see the number on the back of button, tag was unavailable. only rivets, red tab and selvedge that I can see clearly. here's I send you the details. Hopefully someone here can give me an opinion regarding this Levi's. Any opinions are welcome, I do appreciated.
      please let me know.

I checked the Encyclopedia thread and only one Levi's link didn't give a 404 error, so here goes nothing. I should add that a lot of the center patch jeans actually aren't vintage (at least the ones I'm looking for) and date back to around 2006. I've talked with Levi's support a handful of times and got nothing out of it. I'm trying to figure out what all the center patch pairs are. I know I haven't quite figured them all out, but I've found a few, though they seem very hard to come by, and obviously aren't currently in production. I'd really like to find a pair with the white "Quality Never Goes Out of Style" center patch. Something tells me I don't have the ideal wording, and if I knew exactly what to type, I could probably find a plethora of those jeans. When I google 519's, I have to block the words extreme or skinny (add a - in front of whatever word you don't want to see in the results) or I get mostly brand new pairs of 519's. Here's what I know so far:

This pair, which can be seen clearly in the first photo and on this store page (which has other photos of the same pair) appears to be 519 slim fit. However, they don't seem to be the normal 519 slim fit. One site I looked at called them "519 slim fit side adjusters". I have looked extensively over the past couple of weeks and was lucky to find that clear photo, as well as that store listing and one Ebay listing which sold a while back. On a side note, I found that 511 skinny leg (or a version, rather) seems to look the same, with the centered white patch and waist adjusters, but they too are hard to find. The 511's and 519's have a white patch that says, "Quality Never Goes Out of Style". There may be others as well.

You may recognize these from the Moonbathing ads. They are part of the "Two Horse Brand" collection, which have a yellow and white patch and say "Two Horse Brand" on the patch. 506 and 511 look identical, while 509 has the addition of a cinch back. There might be other fit numbers I'm missing.
