Levi's Vintage Clothing

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to show the differences between my two 1937s 501s. My personal favourite of the LVC 501's.

One from rigid Cone Mills brought a few years back.

The other brought from the recent LVC sale. Made in Bulgaria. They only had 30 waist but after a few wears they fit perfectly. I'm a 30 anyway so no problems after a few wears.

The deniem is very similar to the break in period of the USA 37s. The only big difference is the patch placing on the back.

Also Levis vintage clothing site is having a 40% off sale. No rigid at present but desperate for 55's to come up.

Fantastic, they look like they were made in 1993 and I think that Levi’s factory was in Scotland.

You're right, there was a pair in ds condition at my local vintage joint a few months ago, i sent this photo to flash at the time.

Hi folks

Hope your all safe. Newbie on here but been following this thread for awhile. Love LVC and spend hours going through the pages on here.

Just picked up this beautiful sack jacket from Ebay 1920s I believe?

Love the level of detail in this jacket

Anyone can help in dating this jacket? I bought it used for about $50. I am usually a 40 and it fits me great as shouldrs and sleeves but it's impossible to button up, too tight in the chest but it looks great when worn unbuttoned. I suppose it (originally?) had two patches on the sleeves that someone removed as the denim in that oval areas is a bit darker. Thanks

That’s an LVC jacket, made at the Valencia St factory in May 2000 I think - taken from the ‘0500’ on the tag.

Well its going to be 18°-19° today (65°f).. The government is pleading with people to stay home, they know what Brits are like the minute the sun appears.

its perfect weather for tub shrinking jeans so I will be starting on my 1947s.

tag from my older pair of 1955s. I agree with it mostly, I disagree with the waist sizing and soak time.. but nice to have

“Keep the time apart as brief as possible.....”

What does this mean.. are they saying they won’t fade as well if you stop wearing them? Or are they saying the creases I have set into the jeans undo themselves after a while?

this was weighing heavy on my mind, now I have 4 pairs I’m currently wearing in equal rotation, and 2 yet to shrink. My other 3 are just starting to develop some nice baby fades. Maybe I had better just hold on to my other 2 pairs for a while.

It just means the more you wear them the better they will fade. It’s not rocket science. If you wear 1 pair exclusively, they will fade quicker than if you rotate 10 pairs.

Just digging some more on the 503bxx

They are a weird fit. Was thinking about trying to shrink them a little more.

But are they pre shrunk? Shrinkage controlled. Would it make any difference on a hot wash?

noticed this online

They look pretty worn in already so I doubt they'll shrink anymore.

They look like a nice score for the money, just embrace the weird fit!

Hello guys, It's my first post here. I am Denimseeker (ig: denim_seeker).
I have been collecting vintage jackets for a while, esp. denim jackets. Feeling that the denim world deserves a better guide for Levi's denim jackets so I tried my best to make one. The guide is much more complicated than those you see on other websites (i.e. Heddel's or Long John etc) so you might need some basic understanding to read it. This guide is open for comments and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know. This guide is still a work in progress and would be wonderful if everybody in the denim world can contribute.
      That being said, enjoy!

      Hi All,
see you again on 2020 and I wish you all happy new year. this time I need your opinion about Levi's BIG E that I found at flea market few days ago. I found an old Levi's vest (its a jacket once before), this vest do not have a cinch back, I also cannot see the number on the back of button, tag was unavailable. only rivets, red tab and selvedge that I can see clearly. here's I send you the details. Hopefully someone here can give me an opinion regarding this Levi's. Any opinions are welcome, I do appreciated.
      please let me know.

I checked the Encyclopedia thread and only one Levi's link didn't give a 404 error, so here goes nothing. I should add that a lot of the center patch jeans actually aren't vintage (at least the ones I'm looking for) and date back to around 2006. I've talked with Levi's support a handful of times and got nothing out of it. I'm trying to figure out what all the center patch pairs are. I know I haven't quite figured them all out, but I've found a few, though they seem very hard to come by, and obviously aren't currently in production. I'd really like to find a pair with the white "Quality Never Goes Out of Style" center patch. Something tells me I don't have the ideal wording, and if I knew exactly what to type, I could probably find a plethora of those jeans. When I google 519's, I have to block the words extreme or skinny (add a - in front of whatever word you don't want to see in the results) or I get mostly brand new pairs of 519's. Here's what I know so far:

This pair, which can be seen clearly in the first photo and on this store page (which has other photos of the same pair) appears to be 519 slim fit. However, they don't seem to be the normal 519 slim fit. One site I looked at called them "519 slim fit side adjusters". I have looked extensively over the past couple of weeks and was lucky to find that clear photo, as well as that store listing and one Ebay listing which sold a while back. On a side note, I found that 511 skinny leg (or a version, rather) seems to look the same, with the centered white patch and waist adjusters, but they too are hard to find. The 511's and 519's have a white patch that says, "Quality Never Goes Out of Style". There may be others as well.

You may recognize these from the Moonbathing ads. They are part of the "Two Horse Brand" collection, which have a yellow and white patch and say "Two Horse Brand" on the patch. 506 and 511 look identical, while 509 has the addition of a cinch back. There might be other fit numbers I'm missing.
