@jewellben among my many failures is total lack of measuring; i forgot how generally without reliable measurement lvc is in terms of retail, so apologies to all for that. all i can say in terms of pre-soak measurements, i did measure waist in the store, and they were tts: i.e. 18 inches laid flat

to add another unreliable tit-bit to the unreliable mix: i did ask at the store (lvc / newburgh st. / london) how much cone is left for lvc seasons; around 2 years was the less than certain reply...

I've started wearing my 05/98 555 Valencia Street 1937 201XXs again! I got these and 4 others like them in 2012. As yet unwashed, IIMG_20180427_1352558.thumb.jpg.61167789461af6f2a12d5b50683297df.jpg did soak the legs recently to reduce their 38 length.

Hi there, new user here. New to LVC too, only had mainline STFs before.

I got a pair of LVC 1966 yesterday as I'm really into the style. Most advice I read said go TTS for a snug fit. However, I'm really slim so decided to take a risk and size down by one (W30 rather than W31) as they looked just perfect in the fitting room. My true size was too baggy (esp in thigh and seat, which are barely affected by shrinkage).

The pair I took home is seriously tight in the waist. If it stretches out by an inch over time, though, it will be just right. So what I need to do is prevent it from shrinking.

My usual STF habits: a soak in the tub before wearing and infrequent cold soak thereafter. No washing machine, no soap. I'd like to stick to that.

How do I keep the waist from shrinking? I understand a cold first soak is better than a hot one? Will I still get some inseam shrinkage this way?

Another piece of advice I read is wear them in the tub and let them dry on you - I don't want to do that as I find it stretches the knee area.

So if I find the waist has shrunk when taking them out of the tub, what are the best ways to stretch it back to its initial size? Has anyone had any experience with jeans waist stretchers?

Thanks.

I had a pair of '54's that i bought just right in the waist - tight like yours. This was also my first pair and worried. But i gave it the regular ol' hot soak and then hung them to dry, for an hour before putting them on damp for maybe 10 mins? Let them dry and wear. Mine have been washed a million times at 40 and 60 degrees celcius and it always streches back. Continuous wear will set it straight.

Yeah, I see. I didn't buy the 1966 just right though, I bought them a tad too tight in the waist (but perfect everywhere else). If they stretch out by an inch they'll be just right. But I need to prevent the waist from shrinking any further, or else it may not stretch out enough.

Think I may get a waist stretcher.

Adding to your info and to other potential interested people, mine (30/32) at the waist went 15.75(40cm) ---> 14.5 (36.8) post hot soak and then back to 15 (38); yours surely shrunk more due to additional hot machine wash that mine didn't see.

front rise 11.5 -->10.5

back rise 15.5 -->14.258

hem 31.59 --> 29

66 rocks!

Anyone have experience measuring in 1954zxx ?

They are typically measuring true to tag size, they shrink about 2” in the waist and can stretch back to tag size, if you are slim enough you can get away with buying your actual size. Inseam is half inch shorter than tag size and shrinks about 2” with a hot soak or machine wash.

I also own Levis 501 STF rigid, but now I have thoughts on LVC I intend to go for a pair of LVC 1954ZXX,

but have a big wonder. need your help What is the difference between 501 STF ($ 50) and LVC (over $ 200)?

I've been wearing my pair of 1967 505's almost exclusively lately, I know that's not a very popular fit on here and the denim is relatively standard, but I just really love how they fit.  Are there any pairs of 501's that fit the same/similar? Also looking into Japanese repros if anyone has some suggestions, been looking into FC 1108 and SDA 103.

TCB 505 is worth looking into, they’re probably a bit roomier than the LVC version though.

I have a pair of TCB 505 and I can vouch for the fit. It is an exceptional fit with full front and back rise, a no breaks straight leg and yet it fits like a charm.

It is lightweight at 13.5oz and is sanforized. The denim isn't heavyweight or slubby or irregular  but it's a very good pair of jeans. I am calling out those attributes in case they may be a deal breaker for you.

LVC 1954 ZXX maybe similar. Another good Japanese repro would be the Warehouse 1105

I really like the 1954! My pair of 1967 were sanforized so I didn't need to account for much shrinkage, but I know these will shrink, how good are they about stretching back in the waist?  Should I size up?
