Levi's Vintage Clothing

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone -

Not sure if it's OK to post eBay links here (let me know if it's not.) I'm selling my 1944 501 and 1976 501 - Just can't seem to get those last few inches off my belly. Probably just going to re purchase these in my bigger, beer belly size.

1976 -

My measurement for size 33 x 34 55 Jeans,

Waist - 42.5

F/R - 32.5

B/R - 41.5

Thigh - 29

L/O - 22

Inseam - 85

It seems like closer to propellerbeanie size 31 measurements.

My measurement closer to Cultizm size 33 1955 measurement

Planning to get the 76, can I ask who is able to provide the measurement of a pair in size 32 or 33?

I bought the 55 in size 33 ...my actual waist is around 33 around 84cm.

Hey dude,

I'm currently wearing a size 31/34 in the '76s, but I also have a size 32/34 that I'm keeping as a slightly looser pair. I haven't washed them yet, so here are the measurements (BiG style).

Pre-wash 1976 501 (32/34)

Waist - 42.5cm

Front rise - 30.25cm

Back rise - 39.5cm

Thigh - 31.5cm

Knee - 24.25cm

Hem - 21.25cm

Inseam - 85cm

Not too sure about a size 33/34. I think @TheJPdude had a size 34 (?), which he might have the post-wash measurements for, so the size 33 would be somewhere in between.

Thanks dude, I think stick to my actual size will be a better choice. Size 32 measurement might be slightly too snug for me. Will the 55 or 76 expand beyond tagged size measurements?

At the moment, I can't say whether the '55 will stretch beyond its pre-wash waist measurement because I haven't worn them enough. I also wear a belt with it, so I'm most likely limiting it's stretching potential.

As for the '76s, mine started at about 41cm, and after a couple of proper washes and wear, the waist is like 40.5cm.

Just snagged the loomstate tux from a friend on DB Loomstate triple pleat and 1890 Loomstate XX jeans in 36. Anyone got an idea what shrinkage will be like? I'm a 35 waist. Don't want them to shrink too much! Maybe will have to wear both while soaking to keep from shrinking too much. ha

*Hi Mandel, how about a fit picture? I still haven't decided to machine wash or hot soak the 55.

My suggestion is to machine wash especially if you plan on washing your jeans in the machine down the line.

Here's a pic of mandel.

Just got my 1976's in the mail yesterday, throwing them in the machine now.
The denim is nice and hairy, also a nice light shade a blue.
I'll take some fit pics when they're dry, hope they don't shrink up too much. All in all can't complain for $80 shipped. ^_^

Some pic porn and personal impressions on the 66's (2015, factory 4420, w30, 1 warm soak), 47's (47501-0117, 2013, factory 4420, w31, 2 soaks, one warm, one hot) and 54's(50154-001, 2012, factory 4420 , w30, 2 soaks, one hot, one very very hot) all rigid denim.

I'm not an lvc expert and this is just personal opinions based on a brief, and sometimes painful, experience on lvc denim jeans.

in order: 66, 47, 54z, notice the much higher position of the back pocket on the 51z (waist aligned). in terms of color don't have a favorite, all are beautiful in their own way. the higher pocket of the 51 makes it a very different jean from the others.

notice the larger belt loop on the 47's, really like this detail

_DSC4231.jpg.10d15df9199c1c8095e40b6720b3095b.jpg

the crooked path, pardon, the cooked patch of the 51z's, bearing witness to my denim cooking capabilities or excessive high temperature water, notice the warp on the denim below the patch due to the shrinking leather. might take off the leather patch because of that warp..

_DSC4235.jpg.b8810fcabd9a8f3e948f3e0ab7402c0e.jpg

the 51's leather patch was identical to the beautiful 47's (uncooked) patch

_DSC4236.jpg.bb365d8725c2e3630130635bb4496c31.jpg

the "unleather like" patch of the 66's though levis states it as a "leather like patch"

_DSC4237.jpg.760ac0302152bce2cdfc6095220a86a0.jpg

notice the different stitching color at the top of the back pockets aka bartacking?, orange on the 66, nice color but perhaps overcolored

_DSC4238.jpg.382c0a418a6500aff1db2f0ad61f467b.jpg

dark blue on 47's, my favorite, it makes for a more discrete pocket because the lvc pockets are everything but discrete in their huge sizes (I like them anyway..)

_DSC4239.jpg.5dd7ce72114d658c48e02bf54a147f17.jpg

and white on 54z, the least favorite, because it seems to bear no relation to any of the other colors use throughout the stitching.

_DSC4241.jpg.b75013c7eacda495d05517ac70630e4d.jpg

Visually the pocket shape I like the most is from the 66, more square but nevertheless big in width 6.5 inches

_DSC4246.jpg.4d70f4729dee22c94ead6322b6914498.jpg

when the 47's is 7 inches, huge to my small bum..

_DSC4244.jpg.83d4124aa506e8cf1bca35f80221d089.jpg

more to come..

47's fit, model 47401-0117 rigid, w31

cultizm vs actual measures (after 2 soaks, warmish to hot)

waist 15.35 - 15.25

front rise 11.42 - 11.25

thigh 11.22 - 11

hem 8.27 - 8

I might have been a bit conservative on those 2 soaks (time, water temperature) because according to cultizm measures they didn't shrunk as much as I thought they would. This was my first pair of lvc bought without any prior knowledge/experience of shrinking of lvc. At the time I read some stuff about the 47's being iconic and every time I saw sufu mentioned I was left wondering wtf did sufu meant... :(

Their fit, two last photos a bit out of focus.

Although I like these a bit oversized I think they would suit me better in a 29/30, or I'll have to be more radical about the next wash. I think the 47's cut is really beautiful and it's easy to understand their popularity among fans.

Like: Cut, stitching colors, denim color, size of belt loops, hem size, pocket watch size, good pocket room for your hands

Don't like: Fit (this size), distance between two front belt loops barely leaving size for the buckle, huge back pockets but perhaps because they're a w31, copper rivets immediately giving you two central light blue dots in your butt, but then, they're a repro...

maybe you could shrink em by constant washing, like every three weeks with 60 degrees celsius. but if you want to wear many month without a wash you can forget about it. but fit is allright for my taste... got myself a pair few weeks ago and wear em a lot looser like the pair i had before.
