Can someone direct me to a relatively accurate sizing table for the 66 501 rigid? (pre-soak.)

Cheers.

I don't have a sizing table but I think the general rule of thumb around here and defintely my experience is be prepared for them to shrink A LOT, so maybe don't go TTS.

I posted this a few pages back but some people feel it's not accurate, although I think it's pretty close;

Pre-soak waist measurement of 35" eh? That would be perfect if it were actually the case for the pair I buy. But…who knows, right?

Exactly, it really depends on how much they decide to shrink. If you get them my advice would be to do a very quick cold soak or wash first before you put them near hot or even warm water. I ended up getting rid of my 34x36 66 501's because, I learned there is a big difference in being able to fit into them and wear them with any degree of comfort on the ole meat and veg.

  • 2 weeks later...

LVC 1947!  I just washed these a few weeks ago.  They were the dirtiest I have ever had a pair of jeans.  They constantly felt wet because of the layers of oils.  Kinda gross, but I solely used them for working in the latest miles.  I have yet to get some good post wash pics.  Soon...

Anyone knows if LVC changed the denim for the 1955? I recently bought my second pair of 55 (the first was last year), and the denim looks very different, hairier and somewhat slubbier than my first model - almost a Japanese quality similar to my Sugar Cane 1947. Needless to say, it looks great but I was wondering if any of you had had a similar experience or know anything about this. I'll try to post pics later, but I'm seriously lacking in the camera department, so I'm not sure the pics will show much.

Hey Levis LVC experts - I'm selling a pair of raw 1947 501 (this is not an ad) and the top button is imprinted with 4170. Which factory in the US does this number represent? Thanks

Edit found it on Paul Ts site - Caitac in Cali

Levis-Made-in-the-USA.jpg

General opinions or thoughts on the recent LEVIS Made in USA collection that were not apart of Levi's Vintage Clothing?

It doesn't appear that the Made in USA collection is available any longer through retail outlets or online (resellers like eBay excluded). The jeans were around $180 for the selvedge jeans including 501, 505, 517, and 511 (I think). They had washed pairs, too. They also had the Trucker Type III denim jacket.

I guess for the price, someone may be inclined to spend more on a pair of LVC. I don't know if LEVI's could've sold enough (to make a profit) at a lower price-point to the consumer. They did go on sale on LEVIS.com, according to one of the links below. I don't know if it would've cannabalized the LVC line. The line was extremely short-lived, yes? Was it limited-edition? I have a couple pairs that I bought and may start wearing a pair. I've been breaking in a pair of 501Z for awhile.

*Washed kind, not raw.

Anyone have any information about this part of recent LEVI's history? Anyone wearing a pair of raw USA 2011-2012* LEVI's ?

*Not sure if any of these were Made in USA LEVI's or not, but I had to share the great picture I found! Anyone know the model name of the third from the left?  :D I think the first from the left is a shrink to fit 2011/2012 501.

Hi - just wondering what are people's experiencs are with LVC Type 1 and 2 raw denim jackets, STF? I'm keen to get one but I'm a bit confused about sizing. I'm normally a medium (40 chest) so large seems the obvious option, soaking it the usual way - but I've also heard of people buying actual size and getting away with a v good fit with minimal washing / soaking ... Any experiences or thoughts? I only ask because STF with LVC jeans can be a bit hit and miss sometimes when sizing up - eg the 1966 raw denim is better bought actual size I think.

Beware the 506XX (type I) runs big, and shrinks about 2" in chest. 507 is a little smaller. You might actually be a small in the 506 and medium in the 507.

Wow - glad I asked! Had a feeling this wouldn't be straightforward ...
