yea but as a dress boot, which is what it is, i love it. not too much brogue and a nice classic shape and sole... it's def one of my favorites in terms of dress boots

What's a close heel again? I fully agree on the dressier factor, I think the only thing that could improve (or entirely destroy, probably destroy) these would be an antique / natural finish on the sole instead of the full mathcing, but they are great and comfortable boots.

^ Didn't you buy those used. They need to be new for the contest.

Here's some photos of mine. I try to wear each pair 2-3 times per week.

Ah shoot. I figured 3 wears was little enough to qualify as new. Oh well, I'll just pretend I'm in the contest anyways..

Just as a reminder, Horween Chromexcel is not horsehide. It's made from cowhide. Shell Cordovan is what Horween is know for, and thats made of horse butt.

^ hey coleslaw. I am pretty sure the cxl horsebutt in what horween calls their tan color. .....although its more a burgundy brown......

Still though, that post above feels more like spam then a contest entry.

@coleslawyum

We use the chromexcel from horsehide origin, we've checked it also from the specification list when we purchased the leather.

@theblackgoat

Sorry for the inproper post, we're so excited to join the contest. If there's anything in our post that not proper, please tell us so we can edit. thank you very much.

blackgoat, did you ever watch their video? i think they're still relatively new and this could be some nice publicity.

it's impressive that they make it all by hand and a sewing machine.

either way, pumped to see how this works out.

Yeah realized that I was wrong regarding the CXL. didn't know they made it in horsehide as well. Welcome aboard.

Santalum; beautiful pair of boots; what's the price for a pair of those?

Mmm, we do have sponsors in this contest, so we can't really have folks just dropping their products into this contest....

So certain colours of CXL are horsehide?

The naming of Horween's colours is terribly confusing; every shoe company seems to have different colours, or at least different names for the same colour.

The Santalum "tan" looks an awful lot like the "rust" on Wolverine's 1000 mile boots. Does that mean those are horsehide as well?

On a less 'are these shoes horsebutt' vein - it's gotten blisteringly hot and muggy in NY already, so my boots are taking a little break for now. We'll see if I can get some wears in over the summer.

PM replied.

Yeah, if you check out the leather thread there're quite a few items there made with the burgundy coloured horsehide CXL.

CXL is really just the trademarked name of Horween's re-tanning method - I'd imagine, with a bit of tweaking, it can be applied to leather from many origins.

Though most CXL is still cattlehide (unless stated otherwise...)

my original entry was Baker's SemiDress HH MTO, but kinda tweaked the order to HH x Bison toecaps + backstays. so, these may not qualify anymore.

just got a working camera right now_ thought i'd xpost to share.

***got 3 other pairs of laces that i interchange, in case you find these reds unsettling ;)

beautiful boots, can't wait to see them with a lot more wear. are you going to continue to get them reheeled with CPs?

this thread has the potential to be so much more but in a really slow way, since boots don't really age like jeans. i like this slumbering beast of a thread a lot though. a lot of beautiful pairs around.

Thanks! I'll probably re-heel them at some point in the future, or I might just wait till the sole catches up. This particular horsehide is a tank. Looks like it'll take a lot of abuse. Looking forward to some more pics.

Sup guys. Long time no post.

Brooklyn Bootworks Cobble Hill coming along nicely. I've treated them with sno seal and polished them up since the last update. Probably going to replace the laces at some point soon as the originals are wearing pretty thin.

Well, it depends in what context you are referring to it. Plenty of sites out there will give you lots of BBW ;)

As the current DWC has drawn to a close there have been the inevitable questions from all over the cyberspace, which I occupy, as to whether there will be another contest for 2017 – 2019. Today I am pleased to make the announcement that there will be, and confirm a few details about what to expect.

The theme of the latest DWC will be “back to basics”, meaning we’re going to scrap everything from the previous contests and make this one as accessible to everyone as it possibly can be, this means…

Any brand or style of jeans can enter. There will be no weight categories, just one contest fits all. All entered jeans must have only 30 wears or less on day 1 of the contest. Speaking of day 1, the contest will begin on 01/11/17 and run for the standard 24 months to 01/11/19. The contest will be purely forum based, on both Superfuture and the Iron Heart forum only. Registration is open now, and will close 31/10/17. Registration fee for the contest will be a flat $20, payable via Paypal to denimworldchampionship@gmail.com . Upon registration you will be issued an entry number to validate your participation. The entry fee will be used to purchase prizes from our favourite brands and retailers for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Prizes will be announced as soon as possible after registration is complete. Once again we have something quite special planned with our friends at Iron Heart for contest jeans. Our judging panel is currently TBD.
So that is all for now, we’re looking forward to setting off on another denim journey with you all again soon.

      Regards,

      Mega
