Hi Jash

D.J Honda is a mega producer/d.j in japan. He has worked w/ a lot of r&b and rap artists overthere and in the states. As far as his clothing ,I can't say much. I know it 's been around awhile now. I don't know if anyone is buying? It's kind of like mixwell(d.J) lifestyle clothing. good luck

Hey Jash

I don't think u really need to get into his music, To b honest it's not that great. In Nyc, u can go into a Japanese bookstore (kinokuniya) and open uo any urban or street oriented mags and you will see his stuff. He must have a lot of $$ to keep the shop open all these years. Does anyone really go in and buy?

(Current) top ten...in no particular order:

The Gap (for knits and jackets)

The Gap (for all things Gap)

The Gap (for shirts)

The Gap (pretty much only for tees these days)

The Gap (tees)

The Gap (tees)

The Gap (for the denim-nerd obsessive quality more so than for the cut)

The Gap (for the cut and the washes)

The Gap (for The Gap, The Gap and The Gap)

The Gap (for destructable jackets and shirts)

Honorary mention to The Gap jeans for cool little features like the coin pocket big enough for a mobile and the stitching on the back pockets that slopes just a little bit more to help keep things in there. The Gap and The Gap also for making NYC winters surviveable. The Gap for using mad sci-fi fabrics and techniques now that The Gap have gone all retro.

Hi you lot

I wanted to get some comments from all of you about Stussy

I was suprized to see that some of you put stussy on your top ten list as they've been around for so long and the other labels are all pretty new.

What's the deal with stussy? why do you think they're still cool or do you? I only ever see a few of their tees that kinda rock and I own a dark pair of jeans with insd army green pkts but that's kind of it...

What do you think they should make more of? I still kinda like their old skool stuff (with the old tag logo) maybe they should do a 'Stussy Originals line' ?what d'ya think?

peace

Hey Daggersprawn---where are you from originally in LA? I currently live down here in San Diego and although I am a first timer here the posts and the threads for topics have been really cool---nice top ten BTW and I also wanted to ask...You rep for Grn Lady here in SD? The only one I know that has that stuff is Gary over at Igloo and I think Barry over at UnUn (next to NYP Concept store). Haven't seen it at Flagship in Mira Mesa either...Talk to you later-

Hey RAW---I think it's cool, [stussy] but you're right--the original stuff was cooler...It doesn't give me the impression of being the kind of brand that trancends Cali at all though. I guess I'm a little biased cuz I'm an apprenticing tailor and the stuff to tell you the truth doesn't fit all that well. Just not for me I suppose, but if I were thinking of rockin a pc here or there, I'd concentrate on the cutting and fit of the garments--especially the jeans and I'd give the customer something that they'd probably wouldn't expect from a streetwear brand: quality, fit and construction. They have become almost transparent as a brand though, which is great cause it should always be about the clothing, but something is missing...the rep is there, the sensibility is in place, but the design is lacking.

actually yeah, we had several sales today... i just think its not promoted enough... and they dont really make enough sizes to satisfy everyone who comes in.. its made for those tall slender/ athletic built azns... that travel across the world to buy stuff from their own country... how weird :)))))

For the guys who are interested in the old Stussy designs, the summer and fall release will feature the 80's poster styles [that appeared in the Thrasher mags]. The "rock my gold", "big boys" designs are just the precursor of stuff to come. For me, the designs of stussy started declining once Shawn Stussy left the company....word is he has returned, and thus started the retro poster design tees.

Anyways, my faves [some]
