according to this season's new mensline releases

margiela (as usual, very good. amongst the best i've seen this season)

raf simons (not as good as previous seasons but good nonetheless)

richard chai (really really good, reminds me of gellar)

bernhard willhelm (lol i really like the direction he has taken. i will consider this next time i play dressups)

henrik vibskov (hmm... a little of the same last time, more shapes i guess)

comme des garcon (awesome collection this time, i had the preconception that they released the same shit all the time and that their shit is tired as fuck. guess i was wrong)

ysl (better than dior)

NB: (galliano looks good this season but i don't know if it'd be in my top 10)

awaiting:

robert geller

  • 1 month later...

In alphabetical order. I like having a mix of various styles and prices in my closet to be able to jump to a variety of occasions hence the randomness of these:

Alexander McQueen

Ann Demeulemeester

APC

Club Monaco (best cheap shit around)

Filipa K

J. Lindeberg

Jil Sander

Lacoste

Y-3

Zara (other "best cheap shit around" store)

I wear far fewer than ten brands per month, but some of my favorites

45rpm- great designs and vibe to their whole collection, but I am reconciled to the fact that their clothes just don't suit my body so I can never really wear it.

The Flat Head- Great quality and vibe. Only the jeans fit me, but I love them. I'll be wearing them everyday for as long as I can forsee

Iron Heart- I love the fabrics they use. So durable.

Uniqlo- high quality to price ratio. I wear their undershirts literally every day.

Patagonia- Great quality, ethics, and warranties. Their styling isn't exactly what I am looking for most of the time though. Best under wear (the boxer briefs in particular) ever though.

Supreme- I like the idea of their photo tees. They don't make the logo tees anymore so they now do pictures of people wearing logo tees. Once every month or two I will wear tyson tees everyday for a week straight.

design wise, but I am not in a position to do much more than admire in stores:

Yohji Yamamoto- he is making the kind of clothes I would want to if I were a designer. Saw Notebooks on Cities and Clothes and really began to appreciate him and his work.

Jil Sander- I think I like Jil Sander the label more than Raf Simons the label.

now I am running out of labels which stand out in my mind...

Nom de Guerre- they are cool. I have more to say about Nom de Guerre and the similarities with Yohji Yamamoto but can't quite articulate it at the moment.

Futura- I like Futura 2000 a lot. Don't particualrly like all the stuff he is making clothing and show wise, but I respect that he is doing his thing and has adapted to commericial culture and can make money from his art work.

Iron Heart, Uniqlo, Supreme, Nom de Guerre and Futura are on the list just because it is top ten and not just the ones I like and admire the most.
