My current little jean collection:

- Tenryo green weft

- Big John Kuro2

- Oni 546ZR

- Samurai BKB

- Momotaro G004-MB

- PBJ xx-020

I don't intend to buy any more jeans for the forseeable future. Only exception being the upcoming Rivet and Hide collab with RJB

Along the lines of what others have been saying, I've become wary of having too many jeans--it easily becomes overwhelming. At the same time, once a pair has a certain amount of wear on it it becomes difficult to sell ....

From me ? I've sold a fair bit ( including faded pairs

.

'Been binging & purging for years.

'Seeming "bi-polarity", I think, was bourne out of uncurbed denim lust versus guilt&anxiety over having sooo much unworn pairs ;)

Personally, it's much easier for me to part with unworn pairs, cuz I have not invested [time & effort] on them yet. "Worn in" pairs [that still fit] are priceless cuz they have sentimental value & are my pride&joy <3

But, I'm doing much much better now, curbing the denim addiction ... No thanks to recently renewed boots enthusiasm :(

Ugghhh, I've let my collection get too out of control lately. Sold off about 5 pairs in the past year or so, but those were the slim cut jeans that had the most wear yet weren't very comfortable. Even worse, I would promptly replace many of them them with new jeans in a roomier cut.

Flat Head SE05BSP got replaced by a pair of 3012s

Ande Whall Black Mustangs were sold, replaced by the Blue Owl X Momotaro 10th collaboration in natural tapered (still want to get some Ande Whall caribous soon, as I imagine those will be close to the perfect fit)

Oni 22 oz Kabuki denim in the skinnier 517 fit were sold after a full winter of wear, then replaced by the same pair in a 527 fit

And that's not getting into all the completely new acquisitions.

It's great getting to build a collection, and I think eventually I'll rotate across a large number of jeans. It'll be nice to have a wide variety of pairs with a few months of wear and different reasons I like each one. But I also want some pairs that are truly beaten up and worn in, and since March this year I've only been wearing my Ooe contest pants and the Stevenson 714s to try and get both to that level. Yet that just means the unworn pile keeps growing, making me feel guiltier about the collection...

It's enough to make me want to do a world tour with one of my rarer, barely-worn pairs. There's just too many happening right now to throw another tour into the mix.

^ It all comes down to why you buy them mate. There's a lot out there I want to see, try out and wear, don't bother me too much if I hoard good stuff all the while.

About the world tours: What size are you mate? Doesn't hurt to stack tours if you're wearing another size than the 32 and 30 that is currently seizing the globe. That would only bring more activity and liveliness. Personally I love the all the tour stuff and happy to finally contribute to it.

^^^^^^ Cold summer and Chicote: mpressing collection!!

^^^^^^^ 1fookntitefd: Ooh that sounds serious. I can luckily wear jeans everyday also at my office job. I never ever had a suit in my whole life

My little update after a while is quite boring since I'm just a too slow fader!

Jeans:

- Nudie Regular Ralf from 2006 retired after more then 800 wear days

- Iron Heart 25 oz MBB semi retired after 970 wear days

- Strike Gold 23 oz semi retired after 770 wear days

- APC New Standard from 2007 seldom used as my emergency office pants for meetings when I need a jeans without holes. About 500 wear days approx.

- Iron Heart non selvedge blue duck world tour pants for one month

- And my half selvedged Lee 101-Z cutoff jeans from the 60-ies bought on a flea market 25 years ago, over 700 wear days semi retired

Denim jackets:

- Lee Stormrider 101-LJ Repro collab jacket from longjohn_denimblog Wouter Munnichs Holland and Joost Bohnen dethrash 2 seasons

- Iron Heart black 21 oz jacket since 3 years

- Lee 101-j from the 60-ies over 800 wear days, retired

- 2 Lee 101-LJ Storm Rider denim jackets from the 60-ies over 900 wear days retired

My very big dilemma after every second year: Which of my many new jeans shall become my next new office pants now??

Any suggestions?

Or shall I just close my eyes and grab one?

I actually haven't owned any Warehouse or Fullcount jeans yet, only their chinos in other fabrics.

No McCoys, Momotaro or Freewheeler pants yet either.

TBH my interests have moved on from reproduction fabrics...

Not a big user of denim or duck jackets. I like sweatshirts & leather jackets  :)

Favourite cut is the Japan Blue jb0626, despite it being the cheapest of the bunch.

Favourite fabrics are either from RJB or the Nihon Menpu natural indigo denims.

Strike Gold wavy standard brand spanking new, no opinion yet.

Next pair will be either Japan Blue, Railcar or Samurai.

Will always cop RJB if special editions come up.

Always looking for Lee-pro or Wrangler-pro in interesting fabrics.

Heh, well that's the problem, I wear size 31 in most jeans. Of the ones I would be likely to put up for a potential world tour, it would probably be the Roy Big Bro 2 (size 30), the Oni Kabuki Selvedge (size 31), or the Boncoura 66 (size 32). Those each seem sufficiently rare that they would be the most interesting for people to check out.

You're definitely right about the collection building due to seeing and appreciating all the nice points about different jeans. Each pair has something exemplary about them, something I really enjoy every time I put them on. It'll be fun seeing how they all evolve (however slowly).

Full collection:

Ande Whall SR11 Mustang (too slim, but can't bear to let them go)

Kasil Workshop X Earnest Alexander (ditto, my first pair of raw jeans, and first pair of jeans I wore in over a decade)

Flat Head 3012

Momotaro 0605 (18 oz)

Momotaro X Blue Owl Natural Tapered solid black jeans

Ooe Yofukuten OA02XX

Ooe Yofukuten OA1702XX

Stevenson 714 Valencia

Barely worn or brand new:

Boncoura 66

Full Count 1101

Oni 575 (22 oz kabuki selvedge, 527 fit)

Roy Big Bro 2

Strike Gold "Wavy Standard" straight tapered

Sugar Cane Okinawas

Favourite fabrics are either from RJB or the Nihon Menpu natural indigo denims.

Who tends to use the Nihon Menpu natural indigo denim? Is that also a Sugar Cane exclusive, or are they the mill that provides the super-slubby hank-dyed natural indigo denim that is in the special edition PBJ-AI jeans and a few others?

^ Yep, they're the mill that makes a lot of the natural indigo hank dyed denims. AFAIK almost every hank/bottle dyed natural indigo pair from Japan comes from them. Rope dyed naturals could be any of the big mills, I think.

Anyone could have bought them. Artist Denim from Thailand, when he was making jeans, had access to the 100% natural indigo, mixed fiber denims which were used on the sc40200/40300/40400/40500 (Awa/Edo/Okinawa/Hawaii) - these are different to the mixed dyed fabric you see on the Okinawa jeans nowadays (sc40301 and later).

The above 4 mentioned were legendary...one of the few pairs that people still look for years after production stopped. One of Ringring's favourite was the sc40400.

sc40200 even harder to come by - production stopped 2004/05 IIRC. Sugar Cane stopped producing the other three in 2006.

Reudi it's awesome that you can wear jeans in the office. Actually I think many of the posters here are able to. I'm starting a new job which only gets jeans day on Friday and other occasions. Kinda bummed about it.

Yeah I can luckily wear jeans everyday.

I don't have any other long pants

There's a thread on Tenryo here:http://supertalk.superfuture.com/index.php/topic/135466-tenryo-jeans/?hl=%2Btenryo#entry3203164

The pics were on a old phone so are pretty poor. I do not wear them anymore because my taste in fitting has changed. I also realise I probably bought a size too large

Anyway the weft is really a bright green, so it's loud with cuff turned up. Without turn up, they just look a lovely dark green colour. I have been thinking of getting another pair but in smaller size and maybe get them tapered.

I started a job in March with no dress code, so now luckily I have been able to wear jeans every day to work. Before I could only wear on dress down fridays.

[dropping the knowledge]

Thanks! Didn't know they were the mill behind those fabrics, though I had noticed the similarity across a number of the highest-end hank-dyed natural indigo denims used by different brands. Always helpful to get more of the history.

Weight loss is effecting my collection right now. Can't believe I've gone from a size 38 to a size 34

Tellason sz38 (way too big, bought when I was much heavier)

APC new standard 36 "the beaters"

JB0701 14 oz ow sz36 (too big now)

Rogue Territory stealth Stanton 15 oz 36 (too big now, thinking about replacing with sz 34 one day)

APC new standard 35 (need to sell, unworn and too big, hemmed)

TCB 60 ow sz40 (too big, ruined by hem job imo)

Incoming:

Rogue Territory Stanton 14.5 sz 34

Weight loss, even though it can be a good thing sometimes, can be a bad thing when it comes to keep a wearable jeans collection for me. Crossfit definitely shapes my clothing habits as to what fits and doesn't. Trying to compare the incoming stantons to Ironheart, etc regarding sizing for one wash.
