i just drink lots of water when i get up, eat something with substance (last week was grilled cheese and a banana), then i force myself to get up and move

i find that staying in bed / on the couch / lazing around makes me worse

i gotta go do something....anything!

One of my drinking buddies is in medical school and here are his cures:

1) Water (I don't like this becuase it means a lot of waking in the middle of the night to pee)

2) PBJ or banana before bed: The potassium will restore some lost nutrients.

3) Multivitamin before bed: Again, for nutrients.

4) Aspirin or Ibuprofen before bed, but not Tylenol as Tylenol releases toxins in the liver when mixed with alcohol.

5) Coffee and aspirin in the morning.

I think that a swim or hard run is really the best for a hangover. Saunas are also nice. Although I don't think it helps, a greasy breakfast is always nice -- but just because a greasy breakfast is always nice.

Definitely agree with the pho part as well as a ton of water the night before... I usually do gatorade for the electrolytes. What single guy regularly buys pedialyte? I don't anticipate hangovers that much...

But there are those hangovers where the sight/smell of food makes you nauseated. If you're at this point, aspirin and a cup of coffee isn't gonna do shit for you. That's a good remedy when you've had a "couple beers too many"... well that's my experience.

I've had slight success with the sauna (or steam room) remedy, but I've also thrown up in the sauna as well. It's kinda a gamble. I understand people wanna sweat the toxins out, but who the fuck wants to sit in a fiery hot room when they're miserable? Personally, I can't do the running or exercising -- sunlight is my enemy when I'm that sick.

The last few awful hangovers I've had, I take several Benedryl as soon as I wake up. For some reason Benedryl makes me pass the fuck out, and I just sleep it off. I also have to be in a pitch black room. Once again, sunlight is my enemy.

Honestly, it's really all personal. When it comes to hangovers of this magnitude, prevention is far easier than a quick remedy.

that´s the trouble...in between throwing up and sipping water there´s no way I can handle food

i think nothing can be done past a certain point, bar maybe smoking a few spiffs (works for me, but have heard of other who felt smoking made them more nauseous).

If you are smart enough to remember (which is hit or miss for me), you need to eat something salty and drink tons of water / gatorate prior to going to bed. I never wake up during the night to have to pee, quite the opposite, i'm often surprised how little i pee the next morning considering i've had 3 gatorades right before going to sleep, but it works wonder to reduce hungover. I had a biology teacher in college that specialised in hungover "study", her teachings are probably the only thing i remember about biology.

greasy food, sweating. getting out of bed and walking around always makes me feel better.

dont be dehydrated when you fall asleep. run around a little and eat / drink something before you sleep and after you are done drinking.

edit: just take a large bong rip and you wont really care

1. Ibuprofen the night before and when I wake up.

2. Sleep (obvious)

3. Weed (if I have any, and have nothing to do, but kills the headache and nausea)

4. Tacos (Salty and delicious)

5. Gatorade (Hydrates, and replenishes electrolytes)

6. Sweating (gets the toxins out)

7. Movies (distracts me from the unpleasantness)

8. Hot showers (gets the blood flowing)

hmmm....

The loss of nutrients is what causes the hangover. The lack of protein and vitamin whatever in the morning gives you headaches and makes your body feel like shit. Drinking soda or eating shitloads of carbs(or drinking again) is only a quick fix and you still wont be feeling normal the rest of the day because you aren't really getting any other nutrients if you are just eating carbs. You need to replenish that protein.

What I found is best is eating a salad with some lean meat and have a glass or 2(or 3) of water before bed. But I realize that taking time to make a gourmet steak salad at 5 in the morning when you're drunk as fuck and tired is not realistic. So if you really want to get to bed then eat some yogurt or go get some fast food hamburgs.

Then when you wake up eat something else high in protein. Like eggs(i know its gross...but its worth it, trust me), bacon, more veggies, more fatty food, etc. and obviously more fluids, water preferably.

Also, I wouldn't take any pain relievers. They might feel like they work better after drinking, but that is only because you're liver is already shut down from all the alcohol, so now you have even more poison in your bloodstream. Not good.
