So yes, after having seen Rose Bowl I think it´s about time to have a thread for vintage garments and items that work well with denim.

I snatched this beautiful army jacket...20 bucks well spent

A recent find. It appears to be a custom made gabardine shirt from (I am guessing) the 1940s. Tag reads "San Francisco Shirt Shop, 816 Kearny street". I found one reference to this company from 1929, that's all I could dig up.

The detailing is amazing, and especially around the collar with its contrasting lining and elaborate stitching, it reminds me a lot of something from Mister Freedom.

The gabardine appears to be selvedged- you can see a change in the weave on the picture of the inside of the placket, but the end has been sewn under, so i couldn't photograph it.

The buttons are shell, pearlescent, and sewn on so well it looks like none of them have had to be stitched back on. Pretty different now from even high-end shirts that seem to start loosing button thread on the first wear.

Well, it reminds me very much of an LVC 1920's Sunset Shirt I have, only much more luxurious. The cut, the tailoring, the white stitching, the size of the pockets all suggest pre-war anyway. I'm not saying that same style couldn't have been carried through after the war, but I would guess it belongs in the '20's...

Absolutely beautiful shirt! The style and color looks 40s/early 50s to me, but I wouldn't be surprised if it had been made in the 30s. I hope it fits and you're able to wear it.

^Wow, those are all incredible, wgmds. I especially like that second jacket.

Paul & SM- yes, the SFS shirt fits me pretty well and I do wear it now & then. It's probably tougher than I'm giving it credit for, but its in such good shape I mostly just look at it.

thanks roy and beatle. the family friend who owns these also has A LOT of B-3, G-1, A-2, MA-1 (which i have a few pictures of), WW2 patches, etc. Some of the bombers even have portraits on the back that were painted during the war!
