I really really want a pair of Oni 18oz blues, does anywhere other than BiG have them? Everywhere on rakuten seems to either be sold out or have only one size left, and they are so much cheaper there.

I believe you can get them from Rakuten Hinoya, but only via a proxy.

My advice: look up the Japanese name for Oni and google it with your model number - eventually you'll end up finding some obscure online shop that sells it in Japan (, or maybe you'll find a rakuten shop) - now, use a proxy to order it for you and have it forwarded...

(Not cheap, but it might work for you - besides, the yen is still down.)

Got the 16.5 oz tapered low rise one wash size 30 coming in a couple days. Size 28 was too small even though they advertise a 31 inch waist (im a true size 30, so it was definitely a little inaccurate). I'll post pics when they arrive,

Yes they are a straight fit but by no means a 'regular' fit in the thigh. Not drastically tight but every time I washed mine, there was a little bit of stretching to do before the fit was back to golden.

Thanks.

Which size did you take?

Perhaps you can compare to the MF Californians or if you have LVC 47.

I have the Lot 54 in 32 (a bit tight) and the LVC 47s in 34 (very good after a hot soak).

I'm not sure whether I should go for 32 or 33.

Fabric looks great.  But the thigh, rise, and waist are huge for a pair of 32s.  I've heard ONIs stretch alot.  Please post the post-soak measurements.

My pair of 211 didn't stretch that much; basically back to pre-soak measurements.  The following measurements are for when they were straight out of the package, then after a machine wash and dry, and finally what they are today, after a year of wear and 9 washes.

Size 34

waist: 36->34->35

r rise: 15->14.5->15

f rise: 10.5->10.5->11

thigh: 13.25->13->13.25

knee: 10->9.5->9.75

hem: 9.25->9->9.25

That's good stuff Fox, great comparative pictures. Thanks for coming back with the shots.

Do you think they share the same fabric? They are both 18oz to my knowledge.

While I know that the Eight-G 803 and 880 at 15oz both use US Supima and the 883XX at 17oz uses American cotton as well, I don't really know about either the Eight-G 804XX nor Oni 211.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's also US, and not only that but from the same mill.

I've posted it previously, but a great page to look at past and present Oni is here; http://www.kidana.com/oni%20denim/

I really think both Eight-G and Oni produce some interesting stuff.

Wrong thread I know but the Eight-G 'Vintage' series - 880, 881, 883XX - are really worth a look; http://eightg.shop-pro.jp/

the ww2 model looks great, but I dont really care for the back pocket design/arcs
