Acronym.

Not sure where this misconception comes from, as someone who works for Gore confirmed that they are not the same fabric.

Where are you getting this? I own the 63PB and bought the north face hyper air for my gf. AFAIK the Norvan SL and the aforementioned jackets are all “permanent beading” surfaces and use the same tech. They have the same handfeel as well.

PB came in two different specifications/formulations I believe and actually is a new tech, the barrier layer is the face layer. Infinium is the subbrand for their non waterproof stuff.

Similar understanding but wasn’t aware that they came in different techs.

TIL, as the kids say.

Infinium 'is' the new official name for PB, 'PB' is just Acronym's original acronym for it at the time they were involved in developing it with Gore.

All here: https://www.gore.com/news-events/press-release/gore-launches-new-gore-tex-infinium-product-brand

Also attaching this just to confirm:

It’s the sub-brand still.

GT owners, what is this zipper used for under the collar and above the neck tag of the j16? It was not mentioned in the spec sheet.

For any liner w/ a compatible AUX zip. 58-WS, 65-WS come to mind.

Just to be clear, we're on the same train right? Yes I get it's a sub-brand of GoreTex - hence the link, never said it wasn't.

Price hiking is kind one-direction way.

For me this set-up is the second best along side the unreleased camo 3a-1 back in old time.

And ss18 3a-1 just sold out now(stock back), for me im kind decided keeping supporting the brand in future, in hope my fund for this expensive interest(but thank god im wearing them 24x7x356).

I have to say, the olive XPAC looks a lot better up close than on the site.

That Porter bag is a beaut as well!

Yeah, colour looks much better in person than on official photos, I wasn't sure about colour before buying, but i'm definitely keeping it.

Just beat me to it. For anyone wondering, the inside of the main compartment isn't lined, also showing the back of the X-PAC like the front pockets on these pictures. Interior body-facing side has floating lining in black.

I’m semi worried the bag isn’t lined?  As @danii mentioned I know it’s a more durable x pac but I loved that the OG XPAC had black cordura lining.

I shojkd be getting mine in the mail tomorrow but hopefully this doesn’t affect the overall durability cause the interior seems sheen like and could be easily scraped. I’m probably worrying about nothing but still worrying since I did drop a stack on this haha

scroll up a few. It isn't, only body-facing inside. @danii wrote it's VX42/rugged x-pac, so that reflective coating inside should be a PET film. It feels pretty sturdy.

Velcro if you want to move the logo tape/forcelock onto the hood.  Loop and stud to attach ("stow") the hood inside on the sling attachment anchors.
