Acronym.

Anybody have recommendations for non-acromym molle pouches for a 3a-3ts? Most of the acronym 3-a accessories I want are sold out.

This is the best in my opinion.

Or the best I have seen.

It can fit medium to large books, is water resistant and the flap doesn't leave the edges of your books soggy like 3A accessories.

Does anyone know to get rid of sweat marks on my J32 GT?  I didn't even wear the jacket that often and these markings have built up. It doesn't happen on my other jackets which are hardshells just this one.

Yeah, I tried washing it and its still there. Maybe someone knows a specific cleaner that works on it otherwise I don't know how to get it out.

I notice it all the time because if you don't zip up the jacket the stain is always exposed.

There is no warranty on Acronym stuff.

Edit: Although they will repair things IIRC. Can't find the link off hand.

VI. WARRANTY

The provisions of Art. 377 of the German Commercial Code shall remain unaffected vis-à-vis trade customers. These customers are obligated to examine the goods immediately for integrity, conformity with the delivery documents and order as well as for defects. Detected or visible defects are to be reported in writing. If prompt notification is omitted, the goods are deemed accepted as per agreement, unless the defect is not apparent upon examination performed with reasonable diligence.

Insofar as sellers' guarantees are granted, the details are provided in the guarantee terms, enclosed with the delivered item. Warranty claims are not prejudiced by statutory claims/rights.

Customers who are not consumers pursuant to Art. 13 German Civil Code (BGB), warranty shall in the first year be restricted to the removal of defects or replacement delivery. The seller reserves the right to stipulate the method of rectification. Upon expiry of the first year, the seller shall at its discretion restrict its warranty to the removal of the defect or a credit note for the current value of the goods.

Acronym is a business, and is bound by the same consumer laws as any other.

My records suggest that the link for repairs is

http://www.acronym.de/repair.php

But it doesn't seem to be responding right now.

Here's a helpful link about seamtaping:

http://wildernessequipment.com.au/more_stuff.php?article=76

Delaminating Seam Tape

Very old garments, irrespective of their history of use (they may even appear to be in almost new condition) can suffer the problem of seam tape delamination. This results from the gradual degradation of the hot-melt adhesive on the face of the seam tape, the side that seals to the fabric in the application process. This thermo-plastic polymer is melted by a hot air stream then forced by rollers through the knitted backing layer to seal directly against the Gore-Tex membrane. It slowly loses its plasticity, either with age, contamination (especially around the hood and neck areas) or UV exposure. If your rainshell is suffering this problem, washing will certainly lift much more of the seam tape. This is unavoidable and the lifted tape would not have been effective as a seal anyway. The knitted backing on the seam tape and anything still attached to it can be simply trimmed off with scissors. If it doesn't come away with a gentle pull don't try to remove it.

There are two effective ways to re-waterproof seams from which the tape has delaminated. The best is by having a competent repair service completely remove the old tape and as much of the old adhesive as possible (with an industrial hot air 'gun') and then re-tape the seams. This requires specialised equipment - it can not be done with a hot iron at home. The second method is DIY using SeamGrip® PU sealant carefully applied and worked in along the inside of seams. SeamGrip is available from most specialist outdoor retailers. For product details go to www.mcnett.com .

The answer for me to remove any stains from Gore products (especially oil stains) is to use Shout Advanced Gel (formulated for set-in stains). Same thing happened to my J32. Got a majority of it out by doing this.

Spray the area with shout (while product is dry) directly onto the stain(s). Use a soft bristle brush to work it in (I just use a toothbrush). Make sure to completely saturate the stain with the shout. Wait for 15 minutes, and then re-apply the shout again and work it into the fabric. Repeat this at least 3-5 times. Let the shout stay in the fabric for 3 days (yes...3 days, as terrifying as this sounds).  After the longest wait ever, and before throwing it into the washer, spot clean the areas with the warmest water possible for your jacket and use a brush to work in your detergent (tech wash, nikwax, grangers, etc) into the area. Prepare your washing machine for heavy setting cycle and the warmest water possible and making sure to use some form of tech wash, and an extra rinse. After washing in machine, reapply spray-on dwr to the area where you cleaned considering the brush most likely wiped the area's DWR from existence (you could just dowse the whole jacket in dwr just for the hell of it). Set dryer cycle on medium setting for 35-50 minutes.

Hope this can help get a lot of it out. Good luck.

Went to William Gibson's reading/Q+A/book signing at University Book Store and he was decked out. Wasn't wearing his jacket indoors but saw it slung over the back of his chair and it was a GT variant. Also wearing a past season's black fleece (?) hoodie with dual chest pockets, P16A-S in Raf Green, and Common Projects black achilles lows. Should have taken a picture for posterity/ID purposes but by the time I was getting my book signed I didn't want to bother him.

If anyone else goes to his book signing I'd expect he'd be dressed similarly, and hopefully you'd have the chance to be in on the joke/chat for a moment about ACR.

As a sidenote, during the Q+A I asked him if he was fascinated with the importance of marketing eclipsing the products being sold or if he wrote about the topic because this pattern is detrimental. He responded by asserting that his novels are not intended to be didactic (his word, not mine: intended to teach, particularly in having moral instruction as an ulterior motive) but he also mentioned earlier on in his Q+A that his politics sometimes slip through the cracks when he is writing characters.

Need some advice...

Are acronym jackets and pants good enuff for the Canadian winter?

Say -20 to -30 degrees?

Don't wanna freeze my nuts off when I head there this December...

If not acronym, what kind of get up will do?

North face triclimate?

Enlighten me pls...

They probably can be, depending on if you get Ur jacket big enough to layer a bunch of stuff under. They're just a shell of gore-tex (or other similar materials), whatever u can fit under it is what's gonna keep u warm...

It's been ~10-20f here for the last week and I've been wearing my j36 with tad sweater underneath and been just fine, but once the srs winter hit (0f or lower plus high wind),I'll be hiding under an n3b or similar jacket :)

Are you even going to be outside that much?

In Calgary, mid dec...

How about Ten-C field jackets? Or any jackets to recommend?

@jbob24 thanks for the advice.. Think a supreme nb3 jacket will suffice?

Btw, am looking for a j36 black - the one I was eyeing in Haven which was size XL was sold just when I saved up for it... Oh well...
