The return of everyone's favorite red-heeled socks by Fox River Mills available in Brown and Blue

Sometimes a product comes along that, perhaps against the odds, transcends its humble intentions and cements a place for itself in the cultural landscape. The original red heel socks are that product. From its humble, Depression-era beginnings to virtually iconic status, the sock monkey is now a familiar image in the modern landscape. Originally made by Nelson Knitting, out of Rockford Illinois, these mid-weight socks are now produced by the esteemed Fox River Mills. Perfect for daily wear, they add a little flare when the shoes come off.

^ Not crazy heavy. Mike probably has a material weight, but it's a dense wool, what you'd expect for an over shirt. Not as heavy as an EG CPO, if that's a helpful reference.

These days, there’s a lot of denim to choose from. In fact, there’s probably more high quality denim around than ever. How does a pair stand out? For us, it’s a simple recipe. First we looked to our friends at Tellason, Tony and Pete to guide the project. Then, we began with superior materials, in this case 15.5 oz denim made especially for this run of jeans by Kuroki Mills in Okayama, Japan. Then, we added the kind of details that elevate something to a more considered product. These include half lined back pockets to ensure durability; copper rivets and a copper donut button fly; two-toned chain stitched hems (one thread color yellow, the other an indigo dyed cotton thread); fully lined selvage coin pocket; and like all Tellason jeans, fully lined front pockets. The rear pockets feature the same tonal indigo dyed cotton thread as the hems, only here they are single needle stitched into the back pocket to form a simple “T” shape.

Next was our special contribution: The patch is hand constructed from natural un-dyed leather by the fine folks at Tanner Goods. The leather has been hand oiled prior to being sewn onto the jean, in order to ensure a long and richly aged life. We've also only sewn the top and bottom of the patch, to allow a belt to slide through easily. Frankly, we love this patch.

Like all jeans, over time these will evolve. Unlike other jeans, these have subtle yet striking differences. Beyond the rich natural hand-dyed indigo of the Kuroki denim, the indigo thread, the contrast thread and the hand oiled patch will change over time, displaying characteristics unique to the owner and the pattern of use and care. We feel that this level of attention to detail is what sets Tony and Pete's product above and beyond others in the market. Paired with the fair price and the fact that they are assembled 100% in the USA in San Francisco, we’re justifiably excited to offer these jeans for sale.

The fit is modern straight leg cut, neither too slim nor too loose, designed to look excellent on a wide range of body types and builds. All Tellason Jeans come in a 34 inch inseam. The denim is Sanforized but you should still expect 1-3% of shrinkage after the first wash.

This run of denim is limited to 24 pairs at the Woodlands Supply Co. Each pair has been hand numbered 1-24 by Tony.

Size 28 - 38 available HERE

New products have been dropping at the Woodlands nearly every other day this week. One of my favorite deliveries came in the form of the Rucksack by Archival Clothing.

Archival Rucksacks are constructed from 22 ounce heavy weight waxed cotton twill, Horween Chromexcel leather, solid brass hardware, and military-grade cotton webbing.

This bag is extremely well-crafted, made to last you the rest of your life. Stop by, see it for yourself and you'll see why.

100% made in Oregon.

Carl bought this slicker the day it came in and I'm pretty certain he has used it every single day since.

The Elka Rain Coat is the perfect piece of outerwear for Spring in Cascadia - We love a bit of precipitation up here, so long as it doesn't soak us down to the bone. Do yourself a favor and keep those base layers warm and dry 'cause when it rains in Oregon, it pours.

If there’s one thing we know up here in Cascadia, it’s rain. Heavy rain and light, misty drizzle and sideways torrent, we’re like Eskimos and snow: dozens of words for the condition we deal with most. Thankfully, we also have a lot of fine raingear to choose from. A new favorite is the Elka from Norse Projects. Based on a classic Danish piece, the Elka is 100% waterproof PVC, for hard-shell protection from the elements. It combines simple function with some playful style. Layer up and head out. This jacket runs true to size to accommodate for layers.

Available in 2-Tone Yellow/Navy or Olive Green.

Sturdy raw denim? Check. Blue oxford shirt? Check. White canvas sneakers? Check. All you need to complete a timeless weekend outfit is a heavy crew sweatshirt. The addition of a chest pocket adds a little extra functionality (sunglasses, stubby pencil, found objects) as well a subtle visual hit. We’re picky about things. We really like this sweatshirt. Think about that.

Available in Melange Gray and Molten Lava.

Picking denim may be tricky, but at least there are tons of options. When it comes to finding excellent causal pants though, pickings can be slim. When we find ones we love, we buy multiple pairs. Enter the Aros. A medium rise (not really high, but compared to some jeans these days, I guess you could call it that), combined with just enough taper to keep things clean at the ankle make these a multi-season go-to. Sturdy cotton canvas adds heft, but garment washing means they’re soft from the get go.

A good strong tee shirt goes a long way. We're particularly excited about that contrast stripe. Solid cotton jersey, a trim cut and simple, subtle stripe pattern set this one up to do just that. The Niels, soft enough to sleep in, but you’ll want to use it for more exciting pastimes. What those are is up to you.

Niels Thin Stripe Tee available in Off-White and Peacoat Blue.

Who doesn’t love a safari? Some of us here in the shop have actually been on one, and aside from the dope-ass Land Rovers you get to ride in (you’ll want to hit up the Google for some of those), one of the best things about safari is the wardrobe. You have seen Out of Africa, right? The Norse Project version of this classic style is kept simple, with buttoned chest pockets and straps to hold your rolled sleeves up. We think this nice shade of Loden Green looks fantastic paired with the Dark Navy buttons. An excellent option for the warmer months ahead. Garment washed for softness.

Safari Shirt available in Loden Green
