Been to all the places mentioned in this thread, my favs are:

-Roasting Plant in LES

-Gimme Coffee in Soho

-Sit, Wonder (Shitty name, wonderful place, brews Stumptown Coffee) in Prospect Heights

Love em all for coffee, location, people who patronize and work there

All have good prices, Roasting Plant has french pressed coffee for 2 bucks

Gimme Coffee has rotating selections of coffee everyday, you serve yourself

Sit, Wonder, just a nice walk out, lovely location/place, 1 dollar for quality coffee.

People that come and go, and work there are lovely.

Good chance you'd run into me at any of these places on any given day.

i have to vouch for roasting plant. the barista messed up on a drink so he gave me a free cup of ethiopia.. it really was a mix of espresso and coffee with a thick layer of crema.

I also tried this one joint's espresso on houston.... but i totally forgot the name. it was decent but nothing to call home about.

Hi everybody,

I am in New York at the beginning of december for a week.

Any info on shopping (SALES), restaurants and night life are much appreciated.

Mostly looking for CCP, RO, Damir Doma and other stuff in that direction.

Musicwise some Electro / Techno and / or Indie places would be great.

We are staying at the chelsea hotel in manhatten.

Thanks in advance.

Best

T

Girlfriend and I are going to new york feb 9 - 14.

Never been.

What do I do?

Where do I stay?

What do I eat?

Really looking for hotel recommendations, I've got to book something ASAP, looking for a decent room for under $200/night.

Thanks.

Epic fail.

Hey everyone,

I'm planning on moving to NY at the beginning of summer (june/july).

A couple of friends have recommended Astoria, and Brooklyn.

Advice on where to live? I'm looking to spend about 1.6k/mo, willing to share if necessary etc. Any advice about areas to stay away from, etc. would be wonderful. I basically want somewhere convenient to commute to work. Thanks all!

I'm actually in the same boat. It's funny because a lot of people say it is impossible to live in ny for less than 100k a year or more but really? no.

I'm looking to have a place for 1000 or 900 or so a month.

So far I think that Greenpoint might be a good option.

I'm not really into roommates so i'm just gonna try and grab a studio.

As much as I would love to live in a closet in LES or East Village I think I am leaning towards Brooklyn. Greenpoint, Billyburg, Carrol Gardens, maybe Dumbo? heck Cobble Hill. I'm sure there are some nyers here with some advice. I just hope a brotha doesn't have a hard time getting a job when i get there. I'd be screwed. big time. !
