Someone got their hands on a pair of deadstock Shins-era Black '66 jeans (it's me!). Picture to follow.

awhile back i was discussing and asking who's the current owners of denime. now i'm not that well versed in denime's history but i did realize that the recent pair i bought when in japan differs from the pair i've been wearing from the world tour pair the flash offered up. they're both 66xx but there are bits and pieces that i thought didn't match up in terms of feel, fit, colour etc...

 

anyway here's the ones i've bought,

the guy that was working sneakily gave me a red tab. so i've gotta find time to put that on now..

 

 

Old - Mccoy's Era

 

 

now i can't pinpoint any exacts, they're both one wash, but from what i've come across, i feel that mccoy's are wider and straighter than the current pairs. especially in the thighs and leg opening. i also think the colour on the newer pairs are slightly darker and the feel to the fabric are less consistent than the mccoys era pairs. would love to hear what yous guys think..

that said, the denime of nowadays, is to me, regarding the other osaka 5, the most mainstream fashion oriented.

Exactly. I think they had black tabs with gold lettering. But I can't remember the placing.

They are from BiG, I must have looked at them a hundred times on their site but they only had a 33 left for a long while, too big for me. Those 32s, however...

Anyone seen their latest collaboration with deluxe? The red tab is back. Looked like an early Levi's with a strong taper in 12oz.

I was thinking about getting then you look at the measurements.

Will try and get some decent fit pics as well. Really happy with them so far. The leg opening is a little big on them, but I have a feeling once the denim's broken in a little more that they should settle nicely.

shins era denime xx type (thanks again to bobbo)

First impressions:

The denim seemed pretty simple at first, but after a hot wash and dry, I really like the crinkly and crunchy texture it took on.

The construction is great and even though the patch looks/feels plasticy, the details seen below such as the staggered yoke and chainstitch runoff on the waistband are a nice touch.

Going to be sending them off for a hem soon.

I'll probably also relocate the tab to the back pocket.
