@JMS Thanks! The silhouette is exactly what I picture when I think of vintage jeans. How do you like the 43s? @Broark after sticking with the gbg and tcb contest for so long I've been trying to rotate more again

@CSL Thank you! I saw it listed on speedway this winter but didn't translate the page. I hope they remake it.

@LazyS It's hard to imagine a 32 in the 51s is also a 32 in the 43s, as a result of the different fit and how they sit on the waist. True 'stovetop' cut, unapologetically. More 'vintage' than how the 45s sit, imo. Enjoying them greatly. These and the 45s are damn comfortable.

@Duke Mantee Is the Oregon trail jacket a pattern FW makes periodically? Would love to have one.

Just reflecting on this - the sleeves are short (in a similar way to the Lee repro), so you might be better sizing up to gain a little on sleeve length (and as well as what’s gained from extra shoulder width) … but that comes with the risk of looking sloppy in fit. Just thought I’d mention in case you were still looking for one.

^ lovely... I'll have to get some wear on mine... when they're still dark they seem more acceptable as work attire (and denim jackets are easier together away with than jeans at my particular school), but I now have two type 1s and three type 2s to work with.

Decided to give my S601XX a wash after about 3.5 months of 4/5 days a week easy wear

Would normally wait about twice as long to wash but they felt like they needed it.  I expect to hang on a good few months until the next wash, wherupon it'll be interesting to compare the denim to @Broark's fine-looking pair above, given his monthly washing regime

After this second 40C wash, the measurements reverted to the same as after the first 40C wash

The first two pics are pre-wash in sunshine; the rest are post-wash under grey skies

How did you wash them?  They look like they changed a lot, color and shape.

I washed them at 40C, spin of 1,000 and line dry

The after pics are straight off the washing line, unworn and in darker skies.  The before are a bit dirty, with pics taken in sunshine.  I think this explain the difference

The wash has definitely started to bring out the verticality of the denim and some lovely blue hues.  Really promising denim imo

I've worn them a couple of days since... they went back to pre-wash measurements pretty quickly... here's a quick pic from today, in sunlight again, so you can see...

they do look a lot different with some wear back on them.  much better and they are coming along nicely.

i am on my second day with mine.  they do stretch quite easily...may have to wash again to try and shrink a bit more.  liking them so far though

PYzcu7K.jpgAxUq8hV.jpg1943 are getting quite killer in the fades dept. Crotch blew out once so had my Mom patch it up. Cuffs are starting to tear at the crease lines.

3 new bits just in this week... the post in general nonsense is directly relevant. Despite not needing them, I'm happy to receive them

Had my eye on the Ironalls jacket and it's #pocketporn since I saw the dapper Duke Mantee in one some eons ago.  Getting the name right is important apparently - don't say "Overalls"... do say "Ironalls"!
Love the soft but robust 10oz dungaree-type denim.  So much, in fact, the overalls in the same material are already spinning a web!

Plus Power Wear stripey border long-sleeved t-shirt

And Power Wear s/s henley in off-white

Lots #2111001 / #2225015 / #1725005 for those interested

(An aside: why, in my experience, are many white t-shirts varying degrees of translucent?  This one is on the OK-side of the spectrum and, hopefully, a bit of shrink will help)

And a very nice lightweight fabric too... I just don't know why makers often make white / off-white tees on the more translucent end of the spectrum compared to other colours of the same model e.g. the olive version in this looks more opaque.  I've had this with other brands before hence t'was a broader point.   Anyhow, I'm wearing it today, no comments yet either... not that it'd make a blind bit of difference to me wearing it :)

I love the Power Wear striped T's; I have several. It's just a design that works very well with a casual outfit (also true of the Warehouse versions), and the FW colors are cool.

This has always been my favorite leather jacket. To those who have one or know about it, could you let me know what you think of the FW Mulholland? I had a Caboose a while ago but let it go because it was so stiff.

My experience with the Mulholland is that it's smaller across the chest than it measurements would suggest. I bought a used one and had to resell it. With this said it was very smooth & supple. Also worth noting is that the zippers on the hand warmers make them quite uncomfortable, IMHO.

Thanks you all! I ended up going for it, and will let you know how it goes. This jacket has always been a favorite of mine, the look, the simplicity. I’ll keep you all posted!

I've been living in Texas now for 12 years and I've been into denim for nearly the last 10.
After being hassled by my friends and family ("it's 105 degrees out, why are you wearing jeans?!")I've finally reconciled with the fact that I should probably own some shorts.
Hell, it's only May 5th and we're already expecting triple digit weather this weekend. Found both of these for a good price, BNWT.
I'll continue wearing jeans in the summer, thank you very much. But these will be a nice change of pace every now and then during the Texas summers.
