From a very reliable source that julian is a faux bootmaker he used to talk to viberg and asks them if they can subcontract the shoes, but it didnt come thru cause julian is not doind it like a Good businessman so to cut the story short hes not a bootmaker like who really says he is and he said he was schooled in england and the bootmaker from viberg

Checked him out but no , no julian was ever schooled there. Anyways now his boots are made by some mexican in a small sweat shop

I really hope you have your facts straight, because if you don't, you just soured Julian's name to a pretty large audience. No big deal, but he seems like a hardworking dude making a nice product.

Just as a side. Does Brett Viberg also make all his boots or does he have workers doing it as well?

I might need to run by his shop.

You just blew it up.

So are the MF boots overpriced? Those were made by Julian right?

Price is an extremely subjective topic which i rarely care to comment on.

Well, to me, it seemed like you agreed with most of what demonito said about Julian's business practices and boot making skills, but I do remember you defending MF when it came to the quality of the boots in one of the many shit fests that I was the center of in the MF thread. Either Julian makes boots that you think are quality or he doesn't. Which one is it?

I might have mis-interpreted your "blew it up" comment.

Well, I am not positive on this buy, but if the price is pretty good and my xmas bonus is better, then these are in my future.

quoting brett

when a customer emailed him and told him how shitty julians are for their price

Hi Brett,

I was wondering if you make MTO boots and how much customization is allowed. I was looking to get a burgundy cordovan service boot and saw a pic on your blog of a last that looks close to what I am looking for:

http://vibergboot.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/cordovan1.jpg

I was hoping to have a custom pair of boots made similar to these. I've gone through 3 pairs of these boots all with different defects and have given up at this point as the workmanship/quality control is awful. You can click on the pics for larger versions:

I hope we're not just going off of this dude's email. It is funny that this dude would go back 3 times with the same result each time.

Also, I have no clue how crappy Julian's boots are and I have no experience with them other than holding a brand new pair in my hands and they looked, felt, and smelled phenomenal.

Maybe if we can get some pics of Julian boots ripping apart or something or some testimonials. I just don't want to go around defaming somebody, because some dude had a bad experience.

I don't understand what all of the shit flinging in this thread is about. If I worked for Viberg, I would not want to be associated with the defamation of another shoemaker. You say you're buddies with Brett, but I'm not sure he would appreciate you trashing another shoemaker on his behalf. If this is part of the deal to get a break on pricing for the group buy, that's some twisted shit.

And what relevance does any of that even have to the current group buy being discussed? The Julian option was debated over a month ago.

Just give us a price on the boots for the group buy already.

I don't see what the problem is with giving everyone a heads up on a potential problem affecting a very pricey item. I want to know if a product is worth the money, or has potential quality issues.

And I don't think you could call this defamation at all, he is talking about a real life issue of quality. He's not making any of this up just to shit on Julian.
