LFC4ever 65,687 Posted April 26, 2006 Can anyone shed any light on their numbering system please and if they tend to come up small, large or true to size? I'm interested in the 5007 unwashed.
horriblyjollyjinx 5,588 Posted April 27, 2006 like almost all other japanese jeans they shrink to tagged size and stretch up to probably 2 inches. 3007 is the same cut but with different denim, dont know how the 5 looks but the 3 is awesome. http://www.rockcandy.jp/f_jeans_folder/f_jeans_3005_yu_gazo/f_jeans_3005_used_top.html http://item.rakuten.co.jp/2nd/fh-3007 same denim as this jacket http://denim-gallery.heavy.jp/flathead_6002w-3.html våran panel tycker att man ska koka pastan i två år
LFC4ever 65,687 Posted April 27, 2006 Hi Thanks. Looks like the 3005 is 14.5 oz denim and the 5005 is 13.5 oz yet the heavier denim is cheaper ! Both seem to be based on cut of 1950 501 ? Not sure what cut the 5007 is based on though obviously a bootleg.
horriblyjollyjinx 5,588 Posted April 27, 2006 the x005 is probably inspired by the 1950 cut but I don't think they are exactly the same. the x0007 probably isnt based on a particular cut. våran panel tycker att man ska koka pastan i två år
ringring 80,952 Posted April 27, 2006 3007 is a bootcut. 5005 & 3003 are 44 repros. 3005 is a looser '55' style cut 5303 is a slimmer '47' style cut All nice denim.
LFC4ever 65,687 Posted April 27, 2006 Great thanks. Any comments on why the heavier denim (14.5 oz ) seems cheaper than the 13.5 oz denim? Also, do they tend to size like Sugarcane ( where I really need an unwashed 34 ) or like Studio D'artisan where I take a 36 in the sd103 and 105? Thanks in advance for your help.
Dick Danger 36,549 Posted February 11, 2007 I have the 3003 raw, and it measures tagged size before shrinkage.
ringring 80,952 Posted February 12, 2007 In my experience Flatties are true to size as tagged. ie if you're a size 32, buy a tagged 32. The Flat Head that would be well worth hunting down is the 5100 10th Anniversary yellow-line selvedge. Serious denim on that one. Otherwise, all their jeans are pretty good.

LFC4ever 65,687 Posted February 12, 2007 Would you describe these as loose, regular or slim fitting ?
ringring 80,952 Posted February 12, 2007 I would describe them as slim, but not skinny. Not far from an SD103 if that's any help to you.
tangerine 106,217 Posted February 12, 2007 I have the 3003 raw, and it measures tagged size before shrinkage. Yes, same here, and I warm-washed and tumble dried them, and they were a little tight after but quickly stretched to a comfortable fit. Really nice jeans. ringring, great to see you posting again! I agree about the 5100, the denim is spectacular. I find them to be slim fitting through the hips and seat, but the lower legs are cut fuller than SD-103s.
Carl 319,535 Posted February 12, 2007 I am in-fucking-desire-rapesex-monkeybuttlove with my 3003's I thought fit couldnt get better then Hawaii's but somehow it did. Everything about the jean is spot on for me. Sorta slim but perfectly baggy at the same time. My only tiny, tiny, tiny complaint is that the leg opening is about half an inch to big, but gotta stay true to the '44 original.

Thanks.
coleslawyum 661,213 Posted February 26, 2007 The 5100 10th anniversary are great jeans. They look a little like Texas cotton with the short fibers, but maybe thats only me. I don't have any idea what a 55 fit is like. I think most of my jeans are 47 fits. But I have to say that the Flat Heads are tighter on the thighs and have a larger leg opening.

kiya 1,079,562 Posted February 26, 2007 Flat head jeans tend to shrink quite a bit more than other raw denim.. We've seen up to 3" in shrinkage in the length after a warm soak. Regarding the waist size, the exact measurements for every tagged size is on our site. Glad you're liking your Iron Hearts!
tangerine 106,217 Posted February 26, 2007 Do you know if they are cut like 55 501s? Thanks. The 5100s are not cut much like 55 501s at all; the Flat Heads are much slimmer in the hips and seat, and more of a straight up and down cut. The leg openings on the 5100s are possibly wider than 55 501s though I haven't measured them.

kiya 1,079,562 Posted February 26, 2007 Yes, they're tagged as 36 in length. Do they also shrink 3" in the waist? Thanks~ The maximum waist shrinkage should be 1" if soaked in warm water..
ringring 80,952 Posted February 27, 2007 Like many shrink-to-fits, they'll stretch out again in the waist. So for example, if you're a 31 then buy a 31.
horriblyjollyjinx 5,588 Posted February 27, 2007 I've got a pair of 3003s on the way. I bought them in size 28 because of the high rise, I wear 30 in SD103. I think they'll fit great after stretching about 2 inches.

I think they'll fit great after stretching about 2 inches. Ehhhhh, they might be a little tight. I got my normal size and they fit great. Sizing down and you could run in to some problems. Let us know how it goes. And a 30 in 103's fit me perfectly...still kicking myself that i got xx-005's instead of those, oh well, live and learn.
horriblyjollyjinx 5,588 Posted February 27, 2007 what do you wear in 3003? I want to wear them high and really fitted. I know that 28 is going to be snug for sure, but I think it will be a good fit.
Carl 319,535 Posted February 27, 2007 30. My normal size. I wanted them slightly baggy. A traditional anti-fit i guess you could say. For what it sounds like you want a 28 might work. No uneven sizes for Flat Head?
horriblyjollyjinx 5,588 Posted February 27, 2007 yeah, there are uneven sizes but I never really thought about anything else than 28 in these. I'd wear 29 in the 3008 and 5/3005. We'll see, I'll just buy another pair if they really end up too small.
bruised 879,826 Posted February 27, 2007 i just wanted to say that i like how ayn's current flatheads fit. way better than the diors he had IMO. (where the diors some sort of stretch?)
