Hello. As for the looks, which seam do you prefer to have on your jeans?

option 1 looks more durable

option 1 is called a felled seam and is more durable, but i like the look of seam 2 better.

just to throw another option into the mix- your first image does look like a fell seam (as xchen says!), but traditionally Lee have a seam that's somewhere between the 2:

overlocked seam folded over and then twin topstitched, once in black. This just for what it's worth...

ESEF Sky (remember them?) and Ande Whall Cougar #1 (Cone) does a felled seam with two different coloured thread. Best of both worlds. Say what you want about ESEFs poor customer service and lack of communication, the jeans themselves were good value.

^APC does it too. But i feel like it makes cuffs a little awkward.

I prefer number one, but triple stitch is even better, ala Carhartts etc.

@ Indigo_junkie, nice post. I think thats a better alternative than the one from Rodeo Bill, though you need a heavier machine for this. I guess Rodeo Bills example was selfmade.

I like felled seams on the inside hem.

I like the look of 2 and I have never had an issue with its durability, so I gotta go with that. Plus a bit more vintagey as well and the cuffing of felled seams is a bit awkward.

never had a problem cuffing with a felled seam. i prefer it, looks cleaner i think

i like the look of a felled seam too but alterations always end up with me having the second one. i have never ever had problems with inseams (or outseams) falling apart for that matter. you must be too fat if that happens..
