Went with my film-shooting friend to Little Tokyo. (I'm pretty new to B/W developing but as of this roll I'm really happy to have worked out several kinks/mistakes that I was making)

The idea was that they're supposed to be taking a picture..

Haven't shot too much this fall, but I brought my camera along for a couple quick trips over the past couple weeks.

yo zeen, i pmed you these questions but I'm not sure if you received them. What focal length are you taking these pictures and how is your lighting set up? If you dont mind me asking, your pictures have inspired me to pick up a macro lens =].

PS thinfinn i really dig the second one. Question: what program do you use to add the cinematic "widescreen" bars?

just look at the vid solix has posted...that´s the way to go.

or you also can cut the picture at the top and bottom and just add the black bars where your pic was cut. this way you can also use "free transform" to put the image in the right position and everything...it´s pretty simple actually.

Didn't feel like watching the video, but in a quick response just go into photoshop and go to image; canvas size; and set the width to whatever you want. What you want to do though is change the color to black, and then change the settings from inches to pixels. What I usually set it to depending on the height of the photo or way I cropped it is set the pixels to either 400, 800, or 1200. I would only use 1200 if you cropped your photo to a 2.35:1 ratio, or for more black bars 1600 px.

Here are a few examples of each:

1200 px cropped @ 2.35:1.

400 px. I believe it was cropped at a 2:3 ratio.

I can't find an example of 800, but I think you get the idea.

x-posting this...

i'm on the fence about copping this beauty right here...

Nikon 50mm 1:1.4G

Nikkor50-001.jpg

using a Nikon D5000 so in the end i would end up like using a 75mm lens.

owning the kit-lens (18-55mm) as well as the 35mm 1.8G...

what do you guys think about getting this one?

thanks in advance!
