ive just bought a canon 450d with the 18mm-55mm IS Lens and wanted to get a good lens for about 400-500, dont care if its second hand

i just need an allround lens that can shoot most things apart from macro

if you're not into that whole wild life tele zoom thing, keep your 18-55. if you haven't realized yet it's actually a pretty good lens.

if you're cool with the length of the 18-55, I'd suggest the 17-55 2.8 IS. its an excellent lens, very good image quality and f/2.8 is pretty good for low light conditions. I usually prefer using it over my 35mm 1.4L unless I absolutely need the aperture.
