Thanks - yes I checked that and think I'll stick to the 001's or 101; ( have the 103's and 105's which I really like. Any views on the SD-02's ( not sure what the cut is comparable to? (http://www.dartisan.co.jp/jeans/dt_sddo2.html) or the new XXX-26's ( there is a thread about them - also not sure what the cut is like) (http://www.dartisan.co.jp/bottoms4.html)

  • 1 month later...

I have checked the D'artisan site, and from the looks of it the difference betwen 103,203 and 303 is the weight and that the 103 has hidden rivets and 103,203 has a leather patch?

But is there any difference in the dying? Or will they all hold thier color equaly good?

Any other differences?

Please help me!

how do you like the 103 and 105? how do they compare to a LVC 47? i have pretty big legs, i dunno if they would fit a 105 in the tigh area...

i was looking for something close to a 47 501 with a lower rise and a slight boot cut.. would any of those be what i'm looking for? the 103 looks right on.

and i right to assume the natural indigo denim is also 15oz cotton?

i would LOVE to have a SD-103XX in 21oz cotton left hand twill... does it exist?

check the d'artisan denim thread. theres a few people showing thier sd-103. becarefully when you order these because when they shrink they shrink a good amount and takes longer to stretch out to your normal waist.

Julian Red Cali 32x32 *USED* 2 1/2 weeks. 130$ shipped -U.S only.

true to size as other SDA, that means you get the size after shrinkage, before stretching. for example, a size 33 will measure some 35 when unwashed, then shrink to 33 at the most, then stretch, depending how tight they are, to 34 or even 35, in my experience and what I've read from other people as well.

Brian (wild_whiskey) says his were quite tight, but I suspect he got a relatively small size or waist. other people posted pics wearing their sd105, do you want me to post them here? Basically almost everything but the fit is the same as the sd103, which many people here have.

Thanks Geowu - I'd love to see some pics people wearing the 105. I've searched and can't find any.

I did see Brian's post about the "girly" fit of the 105, but I also suspected that had something to do with his build. I was hoping for something like a Levis 517 with a lower rise and a more subtle flair. They look that way on Rakuten, but I'm not sure how reliable those pictures are.

I might be completey wrong here, but aside from the denim weight I thought the 100s were shrink to fit, the 200s were sanforized and the 300s were one-wash/shrunk.

those 105s look really nice, they look to fit really similar to Ironheart Bootcuts

Yea, I did comment and say that they fit somewhat girly. Different jeans fit people differently, I suppose. Mine were *very* tight (I bought a size 29, my usual size). BlvdDandy's aren't as fitted as mine were, and they don't give him the same "rope-through-the-butt-crack" effect that I got.

why hasnt studio been as popular as say samurai or flat head?

Because they make ulgy jeans like the X's-28.

Seriously, I think youll find a few pigboy champions round these parts.

______________

Why not as popular as Flathead?

Flathead makes some nice jeans with some nice denim (5100xx comes to mind), but I don't find anything endearing about the brand. Next.

Why not as popular as Samurai?

Samurai has more fits, what seems like more exclusive denim (SDAs 21 oz jean shared fabric with a few other models from different companies last year), better worldwide customer relations, a bit more variety (Black jeans), and more limited editions (aprox 6/year if not more) and a newsletter.

_______

The real question is how much money all three companys made in 2006. Oink Oink.
