That book started out good, but got pretty boring for me mid way. Do you play? I can't really see non-poker players liking the book, he uses a lot of jargon that might be confusing to some.

Toward the end when he started glorifying Larry Flynt, saying he helped all these women etc etc through pornography, I was like this guy is full of shit.

lol yh i'm up to that bit now...and you are right...even though i play poker it wasn't as interesting as i first thought it'd be...the background on Beal was particularly boring, despite him being a clever guy and all.

I found it interesting though, that Greenstein and Forrest would play each others girlfriends for a million dollars and that the girls actually won lmao

^^ So is a Heartbreaking Work, one of my all-time favorites, although I can't get into Eggers' "You Shall Know Our Velocity".......HWOSG is hilarious

I figured I would give The Fountain Head a try since "Atlas Shrugged" is my #1 favorite.....

Yeah, it was great to read a memoir with X-Boxes and Real Worlds as opposed to a large immigrant family growing up under the Brooklyn Bridge in 1842...referring to Eggers "Heartbreaking Work". He wanted to call his autobiography "Old and Black in America" but the publisher wouldn't let him. ;)

Right now I'm reading "American Dream" by Norman Mailer. Unfortunately I can't read the latest X-Men like Berget because I don't have a little brother and wouldn't even know where to start if I tried to pick a comic up again. So many offshoots and different titles of the same characters.

a whole lotta Tolstoy for my Russian Lit Class

Which tolstoy pieces are you reading????

"The Death of Ivan Ilyich" is amazing, as is "True Love"..... W&P is incredible, the two epilogues are the best bit for me.

Ive just put a big amazon order in but at the mo im currently reading, J.G.Ballards "kingdom come".... ive kinda backed off Wildes "Dorian Gray" just really dislike his style, everyone I know loves it, but the more I read the more I hate wildes views on things.

Phillip Roth - hes kept popping up, firstly an excerpt from Portnoys complaint was in a Maurizio Cattelan Phaidon book, and then I watched the terribly cast film "the human stain", so yeah next order will be Roth and Bukowski.

Also there is a Roth exerpt in "The fourth sex" thats in the post to me, I love it whe all arrows point you towards someone.

Just started "Stumbling On Happiness" by Dave or Dane Gilbert. It sounded kinda cool, he's a Harvard Psychologist who examines the physical & neurological structure of the brain to write about how we think we know what will make us happy, and why we are dissappointed when we spend time, money & energy trying to do things that will eventually make us happy but don't.
